Kumon Oberlin International School
Current information
Every child starts from where they are.
This simple idea is what connects KUMON so closely with our approach at Oberlin.
Children learn at different speeds and bring different strengths with them. KUMON therefore does not simply follow a child's age or school year. It begins with the child's individual learning level.
The work progresses in small, manageable steps. Over time, children learn to work more independently, gain confidence and experience the important feeling: I can do this myself.
KUMON can already be a valuable addition during the kindergarten years – for example, for children who develop an early interest in numbers, quantities and mathematical thinking and are eager to explore further. Later, it can equally help children strengthen foundations, close gaps or provide additional challenges when they are ready to move ahead.
For us, the aim is not to push children as far as possible as early as possible. It is about looking carefully at the individual child.
A child who needs more challenge can move ahead. A child who needs more time is given that time.
In this way, KUMON complements the Oberlin approach: step by step, children learn to work independently, persevere and develop confidence in their own abilities.
