Introduction/specifics

Welcome to Waldentdecker!

Our facility offers space for a total of 138 children, divided into two nursery groups and six kindergarten groups. We warmly welcome all children from Wittenberge – regardless of their origin, nationality, religion, or ideological beliefs.

We care for 15 children in each nursery group and 18 in each kindergarten group.
Each child, in their uniqueness, is at the center of our educational thinking and actions.

Rooms

Each of our groups has its own main room, an adjoining room, and its own bathroom. The cloakroom is shared by two groups and is functional and child-friendly.

All group rooms are flooded with light thanks to floor-to-ceiling windows and have direct access to the terrace—this way, the transition between indoor and outdoor areas is naturally integrated into everyday life.

Two additional function rooms, a large multipurpose room, and an exercise room for the under-3s are available for specific educational activities. These offer a wide range of opportunities for creative work, exercise, and cross-group learning.

Outdoor Facilities

Our daycare center has a spacious courtyard atrium that serves as a central play and community area. Here, the children meet to play together, interact, and spend time with each other.

The spacious, natural outdoor area with hills, climbing frames, and slides invites children to explore, run around, and play. It offers plenty of space for exercise, creativity, and experiencing nature—in any weather and at any time of year.

Food

Depending on the length of their stay, the children receive breakfast, a hot lunch, and a small snack. Breakfast and snacks are freshly prepared every day by our kitchen staff. We make sure that the food is healthy and varied.

The children's wishes and ideas are taken into account and implemented. We encourage the children to help with the preparation and cleanup of meals.

Lunch is freshly cooked and delivered daily by a regional supplier. In consultation with the caterer, we ensure that the food is child-friendly and healthy, and that individual needs such as allergies or religious requirements are taken into account. Water and unsweetened tea are available to the children at all times on a self-service basis.

Specifics

Experiencing nature – learning about the environment

A central focus of our educational work is discovering nature and consciously experiencing the environment. Nature offers children an almost inexhaustible range of stimuli, opportunities for play, and discoveries.

Whether jumping in puddles, observing snails, balancing on tree trunks, planting, watering, and harvesting garden herbs, playing with their own shadows, or feeling the warmth of the sun on their skin – all these sensory experiences are part of everyday life for the children in our daycare center. Being outdoors means discovering the world with all their senses.

Language development integrated into everyday life

Language development is an integral part of our daily educational work. We focus on interaction and communication between children and educational staff that promotes language development. Language is not taught in isolation, but brought to life in everyday situations – through play, discovery, storytelling, questioning, and wonder.
