Welcome to the Sonnenkäfer daycare center!

The Sonnenkäfer daycare center opened its doors in Mechelgrün on September 1, 1966, and is located in the former municipal administration building.

Our facility offers space for 46 children, who are divided into one nursery group and two kindergarten groups. Admission is possible after the end of maternity leave until the child starts school. We offer flexible care times of 4.5 hours, 6 hours, or 9 hours per day. Six integrative places are available for children with special needs.

Our team consists of eight educational specialists, including two with additional qualifications in special education, as well as one technical employee. They look after the well-being of the children entrusted to them from Monday to Thursday between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and on Fridays from 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The idyllic and rural location in the heart of Mechelgrün allows for numerous walks, forest discovery days, or visits to the surrounding farms. Our excellent public transport connections make it easy to take spontaneous trips to Plauen or the surrounding villages.

In our facility, we place great importance on the individual needs of each child, based on the Saxon education plan. Being part of a fixed group gives every “sun beetle” a feeling of security and comfort, allowing them to satisfy their natural urge for movement and discovery.
