Current information
Welcome to the Pfiffikus daycare center!
The inclusive Pfiffikus daycare center has 104 places for children aged one year to school age, including 30 places for children aged one to three and six places for children with special needs.
The daycare center was opened on December 21, 1968. The two-story prefabricated building with a utility wing is located in the “Südvorstadt” district of Plauen. In 2014, the daycare center underwent extensive exterior renovation, and in 2016, the entire interior of the facility was completely renovated. On October 1, 2019, a new nursery building was opened as an extension to the kindergarten.
The ESF Plus program KINDER STÄRKEN 2.0
complements the educational and childcare mission of daycare facilities with concepts, methods, principles of action, and social work procedures
addresses life situation-related risks for children and families and their consequences
promotes a life situation-sensitive daycare profile
works cooperatively, is socially oriented, and provides support for other child and youth welfare services and other social services
The STRENGTHENING CHILDREN 2.0 program – a project for children with special learning and life difficulties – is a support program run by the Saxon State Ministry of Culture (SMK). It is funded by the European Union (EU) through the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus) and by the Free State of Saxony. Details about the program at our daycare center can be found here.
Our daycare center employs 15 specialists, including a certified social pedagogue as director, a specialist with additional qualifications in curative education (HPZ), one remedial therapist, two remedial therapists, one practical instructor, one social assistant, two treasure hunt instructors to run the parent courses, and an additional specialist for supplementary social work in the KINDER STÄRKEN 2.0 program.
The specialists at the daycare center work according to the principles of the situational approach. The situational approach aims to support children from different social and cultural backgrounds in understanding their living environment and shaping it in a self-determined, competent, and responsible manner.
We see the coexistence of children with different developmental and performance requirements and individual characteristics as the basis for a diversity of social experiences that are perceived as enriching and brought to bear. We want to enable children with disabilities to participate in group activities within our framework conditions.
