Introduction/specifics
Dear parents, before I tell you about my work as a childminder, let me briefly introduce myself: My name is Eugenie Kröcker, I have been happily married since 2006 and have two children of my own (16, 13). I have been a qualified childminder since December 2013 and look after five children in my home. The needs of the child are at the centre of my attention. The children are allowed to experiment and actively participate in everyday life (choosing their own activities, tidying up toys, helping, getting dressed and undressed...)
My task is to observe the children and accompany them in their development. In doing so, I encourage the child's individual interests. With me, the children are allowed to follow their individual rhythm and their own path in life - true to the motto "Help me to do it myself." (Maria Montessori).
The special thing about looking after U3 children is that they need a stable and emotional bond with their carer. That's why I try to show a lot of care and understanding for the children and their needs and interests, and to give them a lot of patience and security. The first thing that is built up is the relationship level. Only when the child feels safe and comfortable can they continue to develop and learn something new. That's why I plan four weeks for the familiarisation phase. During this time, the parents and the child get to know me. Everyone involved (old/new daycare children and their parents) gently gets used to the new daily routine and the new stage in their lives. I adapt the familiarisation process to the child's needs and discuss this in detail with the child's parents. Once the child has settled in, childcare starts.
