Introduction/specifics
In my day care centre, I look after 4 children aged 0 - 3 years. We are outside almost every day and my main focus is on movement and language. We sing and dance, play finger games, paint and do handicrafts, we cuddle and romp around. We regularly meet other childminders and children in Verl, Kaunitz, Liemke and Riege. Small friendships can develop.
Once a week (Mondays from 9:00 - 11:00) I run a voluntary toddler group (the daycare children come with me) in Riege, which parents can attend ‘free of charge - but never for nothing’ with their children from the age of 8 weeks. The focus here is less on supporting the children and more on parents socialising, which is also a very important aspect of bringing up children.
A daily routine that is always the same is important to give the children reliability and security, as children do not know the time of day. Starting with arrival, through breakfast to free or supervised play, lunch and nap, our times are relatively firmly integrated into the daily routine.
It is important to me that the children get regular and relatively extensive sleep. That's why I offer a lunch break from 12:00 to 14:30, during which the children can sleep together and process the day before the parents pick them up.
We cook fresh and balanced meals every day. And we serve everything that is colourful, healthy and tastes good to the children. Eating together is important to us. In the group, the younger children learn from the older ones and vice versa.
As we are out and about a lot, in good weather we use a cargo bike that is suitable for up to 6 children. In bad weather or when travelling further, we use a van. The children always sit in suitable child seats that are firmly attached to the benches on the bike or in the car.
Our beagle Wilma is always with us in the house and garden. She can be stroked and fed and the children learn how to handle pets.
