Current information

Introduction/specifics

Dear parents, dear readers,

The following pages will give you a detailed picture of our Sonnenschein children's home and how we work together with the children to shape their educational processes.

The concept of our facility is based on the situation-oriented approach and is aligned with the orientation plan for education and care of the state of Baden-Württemberg. The children's stage of development and needs are the basis for our educational work. The children experience safety and security in an atmosphere of mutual respect and tolerance. It is very important to us to promote the children's independence and independent action and to strengthen them for everyday situations.

We also focus on our nature and city days. These special activities give the children the opportunity to explore their own social space and constantly expand it.

Since 2017, our children's house has been awarded the "BeKi - Conscious Child Nutrition" seal by the state of Baden-Württemberg. The joy of eating, the desire to make food yourself and building trust in the quality of food are also important elements of our concept.

With the diverse and spacious rooms in our new children's house, we are able to fully implement the orientation plan of the state of Baden-Württemberg in our everyday life.

Another special feature is our cooperation with the indoor swimming pool in Mühlhofen. Every Wednesday, the preschoolers are in the water with two educational specialists to learn how to play and swim.

If you have any questions, we will be happy to talk to you personally.

Yours sincerely

Dominik Mattes with the Sonnenschein team

Food

U3 - Bistro

The two toddler groups have breakfast together in the canteen. A total of 20 children can be seated in the spacious canteen.
After the morning circle, the children wash their hands together. In the canteen, each child sets his or her place with a plate and a glass. A common table saying is established as a fixed ritual. Each child chooses their breakfast from their snack box and places it on their plate. As soon as a child has finished eating, they clear up their plate, glass and rucksack and sit down at the table again. When several children have finished breakfast, they wash their hands again with a teacher and return to the group room.
The canteen for the two U3 groups is a meeting room. It is intended to promote cooperation between the two toddler groups. The children in the two groups get to know each other, allowing communication and community to develop.

Ü3 - Restaurant

There is a "free breakfast" in all Ü3 groups. The children have the opportunity to eat in the restaurant on the first floor between 7.00 and 10.45 am. As some children already eat breakfast at home and others do not have this option, the children's needs vary.

The last opportunity for breakfast is usually around 10.30 am.

There are exceptions for excursions, parties and non-regular daily routines

Since the BeKi certification, the children clean up the dining area together with the educational staff. In concrete terms, this means wiping the table and putting plates, cutlery and glasses in the dishwasher.

Lunch is ritualized and eaten together as a group. It is important to us that eating is also perceived as enjoyment and communal participation. The ritualized process begins with the transition from the garden to changing clothes and washing hands. Before lunch is served independently, a common table saying is spoken. This table saying is adapted to the children's development and can vary from finger games, songs or even table prayers. The process ends with the communal tidying up of the eating area.
