Jedes Jahr im September/Oktober geben wir den Schließplan für das neue Kindergartenjahr heraus. Dabei bilden die Weihnachtsferien und auch drei Wochen im August, während den Sommerferien, feste Schließzeiten.
Insgesamt dürfen 30 Schließtage und 5 Fortbilduzngstage über das Jahr hinweg verteilt werden.

The day care center "Pusteblume" introduces itself

We in Welbhausen are a small, very rural and family-oriented kindergarten near Uffenheim. Our catchment area includes Welbhausen, Wallmersbach, Kleinharbach, Langensteinach, Vorderpfeinach, Custenlohr and Uffenheim.

Our facility consists of two groups, the nursery group "little caterpillars" and the kindergarten group "butterflies", with a total of 42 places for children from one year old until they start school. The places are divided into 30 kindergarten places for children from the age of 3 until school enrollment and 12 crèche places for children from 1 to 3 years. We work according to a partially open concept, which allows us to initiate and facilitate inter-group activities and mutual visits between the children.

Our location, next to the church, in the heart of Welbhausen, also offers us proximity to nature. The rural location of this small village allows us to spend a lot of time in space and in the meadow and to explore our surroundings.

At the moment we have 4 educators, 2 nursery nurses and 1-2 trainees from the nursery school working in the kindergarten and the crèche.

Establishment of the institution

The single-group kindergarten was opened on 01 September 1992. The building used to be the old school building of Welbhausen.

In the spring of 1992, the school building was converted into a kindergarten and inaugurated the following fall. Initially, there were only 25 places in the kindergarten, only much later, in 2012, the kindergarten was granted a room in the old brick building as a multi-purpose room and the operating permit was increased to 30 places. In this course, the glass wing, which connects both buildings, was also built.

Rooms and outdoor area

The kindergarten group "Butterflies" offers space for 30 children from the age of 2 years and 6 months until they start school.

The rooms of our kindergarten are oriented towards the different needs of the children and, through a variety of play areas, offer each child the opportunity to devote themselves to their self-learning processes and to shape their individual educational and developmental processes.

The entrance area of the kindergarten houses the children's checkroom. From the checkroom, the office of the daycare center management is accessible, as well as the washroom with two toilets at children's height, one of which has a platform that makes it easier for smaller children to go to the toilet.

The kindergarten group room is also accessible through the checkroom. Here, the room is divided into different play and educational areas. Two raised levels provide additional space for other areas. In the center of the group room, a large rug provides space for play activities as well as collaborative group activities.

Directly adjacent to the group room is the kitchen, which is not only used for meals, but is also equipped with a painting and craft corner and tables for activities.

In the neighboring building, above the nursery, is the gymnastics room, which is used by both the nursery and the kindergarten, and can also be used by other groups.

Due to our location directly next to the church, our outdoor area is also located in the church yard and garden. The courtyard offers space to drive vehicles or set up balance courses. The adjacent lawn area houses a large sandbox and other playground equipment, such as a slide, a nest swing, climbing poles and a locomotive. Mud kitchens and our "Villa Kunterbunt" also invite outdoor role-playing.

The day in the kindergarten is structured by the framework conditions of the daycare center, the pedagogical work and offers and by the meals.

Breakfast and lunch

Breakfast is "open" in the kindergarten, which means that the children can eat breakfast on their own during a set period of time in the morning. Breakfast is brought from home and should consist of bread topped with butter, sausage or cheese (please no jam or other sweet spreads) and cut fruit or vegetables.

Since we attach great importance to a balanced diet, we are part of the school fruit program and are supplied weekly with fresh fruit & vegetables, since there are unfortunately a maximum of two different varieties in this program, we have increased our fruit plate by a colorful mixed fruit box of the Baumannshof in Obernzenn. From these delicacies, we prepare appealing plates, which the children can help themselves to at any time.

Every Friday, we have a breakfast together with the children, which we prepare into a rich buffet. The ingredients are brought from home. For a good overview we have a list where parents can sign in during the week. It would be nice if everyone would contribute a little something to our breakfast once a month.

Parents also bring lunch from home in a crockpot/pot suitable for the oven. We heat this from 11:30 am at 80°C until lunch time and serve it to the children.

Basics

Pedagogical approach

The pedagogical approach of the facility is based on the Bavarian Education and Development Plan for Children in Daycare Facilities until School Enrollment (BayBEP), the handouts for it, related to the first three years of life, as well as the Bavarian Child Education and Care Act. In the following subchapters, the image of the child, the co-constructive educational process and the different areas of competence are discussed in detail.


Image of the child

Every child is unique. It differs from other children in its personality and individuality and is characterized by a spectrum of unique peculiarities, its temperament, its dispositions, strengths, conditions of growing up, its own activities and pace of development. The child's development is therefore complex and individualized (cf. Bavarian State Ministry of Labor and Social Order, Family and Women/State Institute for Early Education Munich 2016, 11). From birth, the child is competent and an active shaper of his or her own developmental process. The development of the child in infancy and early childhood is much more than a mental and physical maturation and growth process. From the very beginning, infants enter into a lively exchange with their environment (cf. Bavarian State Ministry of Labor and Social Order, Family and Women/State Institute for Early Education Munich 2010, 19). Children want to learn of their own accord; their curiosity and their urge to explore and research are the proof. We want to accept the children with their strengths and weaknesses and support them holistically in developing existing competencies and acquiring new ones. The most important thing for us is to treat the children in a loving, appreciative and respectful manner. For us, the kindergarten is a place that is intended for the development of the personality of the individual and it can only be this if the children feel comfortable and safe with us.

Our staff stand by the children in their development as confidants. Mutual respect, professional competence and trusting cooperation characterise our encounters with all adults and children around our day care centre.

In order to ensure that the pedagogical mandate of the Bavarian Child Education and Care Act (BayKiBiG) is fulfilled, a number of pedagogical staff corresponding to the number of children and booking hours look after the well-being of the children.

Falling below or ensuring compliance with the legally prescribed staffing ratio and the corresponding ratio of qualified staff ensures the good quality of the pedagogy in our facility. The qualified specialist and supplementary staff of the day care centre are supplemented by trainees from various social pedagogical professions.

Qualification

In our facility, you will find the different professional specialisations around the pedagogical education and upbringing area. Our specialist staff have the following professional qualifications:

    State-recognised educator
    state-certified nursery nurse and state-certified nursery nurse
    qualified childcare worker (Fachwirt/in Erziehungswesen)
    or other qualified professions with state approval

In addition, we offer training places and internships for prospective students at technical colleges for social pedagogy who are aiming to become "educators" and "child care workers" (SPS1/SPS2).

In addition to our specialist pedagogical staff, employees with alternative activities in the field of movement, FSJ or similar also contribute to ensuring that the day care centre offers a diverse, lively environment for children and their families.

Legal basis

We work according to the requirements of the Bavarian Education Plan and the legal basis of §8a SGBVIII (Child Welfare), the SGBVIII (Federal Child Protection Act), the Bavarian Child Education and Care Act (BayKiBiG), the Basic Law (Articles 1 and 2), the BGB (Civil Code) § 1631, as well as the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.


Best interests of the child

According to our understanding of child welfare, every single child has a right to loving care, upbringing and education, to the integrity of his or her body and soul. Every child has the right to a happy childhood that enables him or her to become an independent, self-confident and autonomous adult who can integrate into his or her social environment.

The following attitude of the staff is important to us:

    The constant awareness of the professional staff with regard to the protection mandate towards the child.
    Attention and vigilance to the needs, fears and distress of the children.
    Respect for the limits of each individual child and support in showing and formulating these limits.

Forms of risk to a child's well-being

In principle, a child is considered to be at risk if there is a present danger that the child's further development will be significantly harmed with a high degree of certainty. We distinguish between the following manifestations of child welfare endangerment:

    Psychological violence (discrimination, lack of emotional attention, shouting at etc.).
    Neglect (lack of care, neglect of supervision etc.)
    Physical violence (lack of age-appropriate treatment)
    Sexual abuse (from over-attention to sexual intercourse)

 

Cooperations

The public relations work of our kindergarten is characterised above all by the diverse cooperation with various institutions. For example, we work with occupational therapists, speech therapists, the early intervention centre, the youth welfare office, paediatricians and also with Lebenshilfe.

In addition, there is close cooperation between the primary school in Uffenheim and the primary school in Oberscheckenbach in order to prepare the children in the best possible way for school and the demands placed on them. For this purpose, there are various projects in which the children are allowed to visit the school and also get to know the school building well. Teachers and educators meet here at regular intervals to maintain a lively exchange.

Furthermore, we cooperate closely with other day-care centres and also with the specialist advice centre for day-care centres in Nuremberg. Here, too, there are regular cooperation meetings and head teachers' meetings, which also take place on a supra-local level and in cooperation with the respective providers.

There is also close cooperation with vocational schools for child care in order to create the best possible conditions for our trainees.

For important announcements, the community newspaper is an excellent medium for us, which also enables us to inform the people in our social environment about our day care centre. Local public relations work is close to our hearts, which is why we value festivals such as the summer festival, the lantern parade, the senior citizens' Christmas, the birthday singing and also the Christmas market in Uffenheim very much and benefit from these meetings both as an institution and on a human level.

 

Teamwork with school

In order to ensure a relaxed transition to primary school, we work closely with the two primary schools that children from our kindergarten attend. These are the primary school in Uffenheim and the primary school in Oberscheckenbach.

There are several meetings between school and kindergarten throughout the year to make the transition as smooth as possible. Due to its size, the primary and secondary school in Uffenheim often has extra teacher hours that are made available for the cooperation between kindergarten and school. However, these bonus hours are granted or applied for anew every year. The cooperation officer of the Uffenheim primary school visits once or twice a year and observes the kindergarten children in the preschool. The children themselves were allowed to come to the primary school in Uffenheim for four project days and participate in the lessons of the first or second class. At the last meeting, the school rally takes place. In this way, the children are familiarised with the building step by step and then know their way around quite well when things really start in September.

The Oberscheckenbach primary school, being a rural school, has not had any extra hours for transition support so far, but there are still two meetings a year between educators and teachers. The children themselves are usually allowed to come to class for a taster lesson in July. An educator accompanies the children. In addition, the Oberscheckenbach primary school also offers a tutor afternoon every year so that the school beginners and their new tutors can get to know each other.

In order to ensure the best possible support, we recommend that all parents release the kindergarten from its duty of confidentiality towards the school.

 

Teamwork with parents

An important part of our work is the educational partnership with the parents. The foundation of education has already been laid in the family and we in the nursery build on this. Parents are their child's experts and know them better than anyone else. We depend on the parents to share their knowledge with us in order to accompany the child as best as possible in its individual education and development process. It is important for us to value the parents in their parental competence, but also to recognise their needs, to take them seriously and to support them.

In order to give the parents an insight into our work and the processes of their child, there is always the possibility of a door-to-door talk and a development talk is planned twice a year. If necessary, further discussions can be arranged.

Furthermore, there is an information wall in the entrance area that displays all current and important topics. Information letters or other letters for parents are also prepared and handed out in good time.

Overview

Depending on the type of facility, we care for children from crèche age until they leave primary school in our day care centre. In order to prevent very young children from being overtaxed, their admission is checked by the pedagogical care staff with regard to the child's individual stage of development and the parents are advised accordingly for the benefit of the child.

Of course, children with a need for integrative developmental support are cared for in our house according to the pedagogical possibilities and the legal basis.

If there are more applications than available places in a day care centre year, certain admission criteria are used to allocate places.

Priority is given to children

    who already have a place in the nursery and are transferring from the nursery to the kindergarten.
    whose siblings are already being cared for in the facility.
    who urgently need a childcare place for social reasons.

    More than 5 to 6 hours = 104,- Euro

Parental contribution subsidy according to Art. 23 BayKiBiG***) For children from 3 years until school enrolment amounts to 100,- Euro

The monthly play fee of 5,- Euro, as well as the beverage fee and the portfolio work are included in our contribution.

***) The parental contribution subsidy regulated in Art. 23 BayKiBiG is passed on to the parents. The listed parental contribution is reduced accordingly.

The parental contribution subsidy according to Art. 23 BayKiBiG applies from 01 September of the year in which the child turns three until the child starts school.

For younger children, the parents can apply for the crèche allowance. The nursery allowance is paid directly to the parents.
