Basics
This is who WE are
Our daycare center “Teltow Kids”, which was founded in 2013, is located in the heart of Teltow, a town on the outskirts of Berlin.
As part of the cross-group concept and the associated open work, our youngest children are cared for in a safe atmosphere on two wings in the crèche area and our older children from approx. 2.5 years on two wings in the elementary area. In the elementary area, based on the concept of immersion learning, our children can experience another language in everyday life without any pressure, but with childlike curiosity. This means that German-speaking specialist staff work closely with native English-speaking specialist/supplementary staff. Our children should experience a second language, the English language, just as they do in their own mother tongue. From the morning greeting in the morning circle, to games, shared meals, singing, creative activities and movement, they learn terms from everyday life in a holistic way.
This openness to a second language in the home opens up further opportunities for us to live together with children from other countries, with different languages, but also with different disabilities. Through bilingualism and the associated multiculturalism in our home, the children learn very early on how diverse, colorful and unique each individual person is.
It is important to us in our everyday - international - life together to teach our children openness, respect and appreciation for different ways of life and cultures. By integrating a new language into everyday life, the fear of foreigners disappears and dealing with diversity and otherness becomes the norm. Our day care center “Teltow Kids” is a place of international encounters in Teltow and Brandenburg.
This is also reflected in the design and structure of the building. Different materials are made available to the children and opportunities are created for them to live out and satisfy their needs, interests and curiosity.
Our garden is designed to be close to nature and, with its mature trees, offers space for movement and play at any time of year.
