Introduction/specifics

Our kindergarten “Arche Noah“ is in the centre of Suhl directly by the church “Kreuzkirche” on the pedestrian zone called “Steinweg”. It was founded in 1881 and therefore it is the oldest public children´s facility of the city Suhl. From the free space with old trees, climbing frames and a sandpit you have access to a chapel that is listed for preservation.

In 2013 a modern extension was built for children older than 12 months. In the upper floor there is a big multifunctional room, an office and a room for employees as well as a creative and preschool room in the lower floor. Directly behind the building the children can use the outdoor area with a lawn, sandpit and other playing equipment.

On the nearby hill “Hohe Loh” we are able to visit our garden which can be accessed by our children on foot. We like to spend time with the children going outside to explore nature together so while breathing fresh air the kids can discover things about their natural surroundings. Singing together and making music is a must have in our everyday life. For that we have a lot of different instruments which we and the children like to use. The cantor of the church community also gives children at the age of 3 and older the opportunity to sing together in the church.

Religion of course accompanies us every day and during the feasts of the year. We are well connected with the church community and other institutions of Suhl.

The responsible body of our kindergarten is the Evangelical church community of Suhl.

In our kindergarten we can care for up to 75 children older than 1 year in 5 different groups. Our normal working hours start at 6.30 am and end at 4.30 pm.

Our concept is based on the situation approach. Most important for us is to look after every individual as well as possible in our groups. Our educational work is targeting to educate children of different origins and non-identical learning capacities in a way that they can respond to future situations autonomously, competently as well as showing solidarity.

This pedagogical aim is the base of our actions and is always part of our work.
