Current information

In the Sonnenschein kindergarten, up to 74 children are cared for in four partially open groups. 50 places are available in two kindergarten groups and 24 children can be looked after in two crèche groups.

Introduction/specifics

Since its opening in 2004, 50 kindergarten children aged 3 to 6 years have been cared for in the Sonnenschein kindergarten. In addition, since September 2023, up to 24 children aged 12 months to 3 years are cared for in two crèche groups.
Our facility is located on the outskirts of Strasslach, which favours excursions into nature. In addition to the inviting group rooms with adjoining room and gallery, our facility has a gymnasium as well as a craft room, which are used for a variety of educational activities.

Rooms

Each kindergarten group has a kitchenette for domestic activities, an adjoining room as a painting studio, and a gallery that serves as a reading corner and doll kitchen. There is also a building corner and a cuddle den. The group rooms have been deliberately divided into themed areas in order to offer the children a place of retreat where they can intensively engage with selected play partners.

The nursery groups are bright and friendly, there is a large indoor playground and various opportunities for initial role play. Each group has its own bedroom and a gallery that invites you to chill out and relax, and there is also a children's kitchen.

In the shared, generously designed play hallway, children can race bobby cars and there is also a kitchen for distributing meals and lunch is taken together here.

Throughout the house there are wall toys for exploring motor skills and self-awareness.

In the bright and friendly sanitary area there are two nappy-changing places and a total of 6 toilets at different heights.

Outdoor Facilities

In the garden you will find a driving track for cars, a sandbox, a spacious meadow that invites you to picnic, as well as a mud kitchen for water games

Basics

We place special emphasis on giving your children a voice. In the kindergarten Sonnenschein we work with a partial open concept. This means that there are time slots in the pedagogical core time in which the children can choose their own activities. The pedagogical staff is distributed throughout the house and the outdoor area and offers the children various educational activities. The children can choose independently which activity they would like to participate in.
Furthermore, we work a lot in projects. Projects on a certain theme (fairy tales, dinosaurs, colours, etc.) are presented to the children. Afterwards, the children are allowed to vote on which topic they would like to work on for the next time using a democratic method. Books are then read aloud, experiments carried out, games played, songs sung or something cooked on the respective topic.

Projects

In addition to the projects and the partly open work, we also celebrate festivals. In addition to the usual festivals such as St. Martin's Day, St. Nicholas' Day, Christmas, Carnival and Easter, we also celebrate festivals that convey important values, such as the harvest festival.
In close cooperation with our parents' council, we also organise festivities to which parents are cordially invited. The annual summer festival is the highlight. There is also an Easter and Christmas market where parents can buy Advent wreaths, Easter flower arrangements or handicrafts made by their children.
