The first nursery school in Stockach was founded in the 1950s. At that time, a community nurse looked after around 60 children on her own in the fire station. In 1965, the current Protestant nursery school was built with four groups for children aged 3-6.
Like everything else in life, the kindergarten is also subject to change over time. Today, 82 children aged 1 to 6 attend our ‘Zum guten Hirten’ facility here in Stockach. 
Many children, parents, educators and a wide variety of educational concepts have been involved in these rooms over the years – but ever since the kindergarten was founded, it has been the church's aim not only to provide child-friendly care, but also to impart Christian values to young people. While the care and education of children have been considered the main tasks of a kindergarten up to now, early childhood learning is becoming increasingly important.
