Forest kindergarten “Der Wichtelwald” – Learning in the heart of nature
At the “Wichtelwald” forest kindergarten run by Waldwichtel St. Leon-Rot e.V., education takes place where children learn most intensively: outdoors in nature. In two groups of up to 20 children each, the children discover, explore, and experience the state forest near St. Leon-Rot with all their senses. The forest offers new learning spaces every day. Without pre-made toys, creative play ideas emerge from natural materials, promoting imagination, motor skills, and independence. At the same time, the children learn to treat the environment with care.
Our educational work is characterized by a focus on needs, participation, and plenty of time in nature. The children actively shape their everyday lives and experience self-efficacy. Our heated construction trailers and a forest hut serve as a protected base, providing a place of refuge for projects, discussions, and shared meals in all weather conditions. Children from our “Wichtelwiese” nursery can make a particularly smooth transition to the forest kindergarten thanks to our internally supervised adjustment program. We also offer every child a hot lunch.
