Introduction/specifics

The "Flohkiste" day care centre in Westerngrund is a Catholic kindergarten. Following the Christian model, all children are welcome here. Our centre was built in 1963 by the Catholic Church. 

In 1995, the building was extended and since October 2000, the kindergarten has been run by the "St. Hildegardverein Westerngrund e. V. "

A new renovation started in November 2021. Today, our centre consists of 2 crèche groups, 3 kindergarten groups and a large after-school care group for 40 children.

Rooms

Our house has 3 floors. 

The two crèche rooms with nappy-changing area/toilet and bedrooms are located in the basement. There is always something going on in the play corridor. 

There is also a gymnastics room in the basement and all the children go to the playground through the dirt gate. 

The 3 group rooms with toilets for the kindergarten children and a disabled toilet are located on the ground floor. A bistro with a large kitchen offers 60 children the opportunity to eat at the same time. 

The management office and a parents' meeting room are also on the ground floor.

The after-school care centre, toilets and staff room are located on the upper floor.

Outdoor Facilities

We have an outdoor area of around 3000 square metres, which we enjoy using every day.

Daily Schedule

Daily routine Kindergarten: 

7.00 am to 8.30 am: drop-off time                                           7.00 am to 11.00 am: free breakfast in the bistro

8.30 am to 9.00 am: children's meeting time in the gym         9.00 am to 9.30 am: project group time

9.30 am to 12.30 pm: open time / 12. 30 hrs: Pick-up time for children who do not have lunch

12.15 hrs to 13.00 hrs: Lunch                                                  13.00 hrs to 13.30 hrs: Lunch break in the house 

13.30 hrs to 16.30 hrs: Afternoon care in the daycare centre          We close our house at 14.30 hrs on Fridays

2.00 p.m. 2nd homework time or free time for the children

Food

We offer the children a freshly prepared breakfast every day in our bistro. We buy regional and seasonal produce.

The cost per month and child is €22 for breakfast and €1 for the sparkling water

lunch: Our food comes from the Kinderestküche Ronneburg and is delivered daily.

Cost for crèche and kindergarten: €3.55

Cost for school children: €4.40

Basics

We work according to a partially open concept. The children are divided into core groups on arrival. At 8.30 a.m. we meet in the gym with all the children. We greet each other, sing together and discuss the day's activities. 

Immediately after the children's meeting, we do projects in small groups. This is followed by open time for all children, during which they can decide what they want to do, with whom and where they want to play.

Our pedagogical concept is based on Maria Montessorie: "Help me to do it myself"

We want to educate the children to become independent, self-confident and empathetic people.

The educational team at our daycare centre consists of:

Quality Assurance

Once a year, we carry out a quality survey with parents. Points such as opening times, educational work, food, behaviour of the educational staff, parties, parents' evenings, etc. are discussed and parents can express their opinions and wishes. 

We use this to optimise our work.

Teamwork with school

As we have an after-school care centre for our schoolchildren, we work closely with Schöllkrippen primary school on a regular basis. 

Joint theatre plays, visits to the primary school, carnival parades, etc. are things that we experience together. 

Once a year, there is a co-operation meeting with teachers and management, or pre-school or after-school teachers.

We celebrate various festivals with the children and parents every year.

Projects

We are currently taking part in the state government's ‘kita-digital’ project. 

We have also been involved in the ‘Kids`N Groups’ study for 3 years. This is about researching social behaviour at kindergarten age.

Overview

We accept children from the age of 1 year in our crèche and children from 2 years and 9 months in the kindergarten area. 

In the months of September and January (after our closing times), we only accept new children from the middle of the month.

Children can only be enrolled once they have been born. 

We would also like to invite parents who register their children with us for a personal interview and, of course, show them our daycare centre.
