Introduction/specifics

Welcome to our Weinbergschnecke daycare center!

The “Elterninitiative Kita Weinbergschnecke e. V.” is a non-profit association that was founded at the beginning of 2021 to set up and run the Weinbergschnecke daycare center. It is located on Ortrand (Eibingen) below the vineyards.

The Weinbergschnecke daycare center is an all-day facility for up to 11 children aged 10 months to 3 years. We also welcome children with disabilities.

Children have a right to a carefree and intact childhood. At the Weinbergschnecke daycare center, they are taken seriously, respected and valued as individual personalities.  They are involved in shaping their everyday lives and are supported in making their own decisions and having their own experiences. In the daily interaction between children and adults, they experience respectful and trusting interaction, which allows them to grow in their self-confidence. In this process, both children and educational staff are teachers and learners at the same time. This becomes the basis for educational action.

Rooms

Our daycare center consists of a group room and a movement/bedroom, a staff room/management office, a kitchen and the sanitary facilities.

The design and furnishings of the interior rooms convey an open, positive and friendly atmosphere and enable the implementation of the educational concept. The rooms are tailored to the special interests and needs of children under 3 years of age. There is sufficient space for movement and sport, building, making music, role play, relaxation and retreat as well as inclusive work.

Outdoor Facilities

The facility has an outdoor area that invites children to play and run around in safety. This outdoor area consists of a large sandpit with a mud kitchen, a play tower with climbing and sliding facilities, a raised bed and various vehicles. There is also the opportunity to draw with chalk on our tiles and the hanging drawing boards. A playhouse invites children to play various role-playing games. In summer, there are various opportunities for splashing and splashing around.

Food

Meals at our daycare center include a varied breakfast, a fresh lunch and an afternoon snack.

Our breakfast is prepared for the children every morning by the teachers. We attach great importance to a varied selection (fresh rolls, fresh bread, cold cuts, vegetables, muesli, etc.).

Our kitchen staff prepare a balanced lunch for our children every day.

After nap time, there is a varied afternoon snack (fruit, yoghurt, quark, etc.)

We source all our food from the region.

We only serve water and unsweetened tea to drink. Our mornings are also sugar-free.

Basics

The basis for our educational work and actions is the educational concept of the Weinbergschnecke daycare center. The concept is constantly reviewed and further developed by our specialists. It contains guidelines on the pedagogical profile, formulates fundamental humanistic values and clearly advocates opportunities for children to participate.

The goals of our educational activities are

  • strong and communicative children
  • creative, imaginative and artistic children
  • children who are eager to learn, explore and discover

Our facility works in a situation-oriented manner. This means that we focus on the children's needs, address their issues and take them seriously. Children are strengthened holistically in their self-competence and encouraged in their personal development.

Our pedagogical focus is on

  • Language development and music
  • participation
  • Learning through free play
  • Balanced nutrition/mouth hygiene
  • Exercise
  • Experiencing nature
  • Social emotional skills
  • Projects/Offers/Excursions

Employee

The pedagogical staff have completed training as state-approved educators or equivalent (HKJGB §25b). We also train and have interns in our team. They all have equal rights in the team. All pedagogical specialists have access to further training, supervision and preparation time for indirect pedagogical work.

Good teamwork is an important prerequisite for achieving the goals set in our work. Each member of the educational staff contributes their own ideas, knowledge and suggestions to the constructive teamwork. In this way, the facility can continue to develop.

Qualification

The “Weinbergschnecke” daycare center meets the wishes and requirements of the local community with its quality assurance and thus corresponds to the living environments and needs of the children and their families living here.

Quality is ensured through weekly team meetings, a supra-regional working group of the youth welfare organization, management supervision, case supervision in the teams and, above all, through pedagogical training and concept days at the facility. The structural quality is determined by situational and legal framework conditions.

The “Kita Weinbergschnecke” uses a dialogical quality procedure that includes and evaluates the systematic and continuous planning, development, management, safeguarding and improvement of the services offered.

Cooperations

The daycare center is open to cooperation with other institutions and specialist agencies and would like to develop this in order to incorporate diverse perspectives and fields of experience into its own work. In this way, special support measures and advice can be offered for the benefit of the child and to support the families. The management and the daycare team regularly take part in the BEP specialist consultation.

Cooperation exists with:

The library of the town of Rüdesheim
other daycare centers in Rüdesheim
Daycare supervision of the youth welfare office
Rüdesheim elementary school (use of the gymnasium during the vacations)

Teamwork with parents

By enrolling a child, parents or guardians become members of the non-profit association “Kita Weinbergschnecke”. The parents' initiative was founded by parents who were keen to set up childcare for children under the age of three. Parents can get involved in many areas. For example, in joint gardening activities, on the board, in the organization of joint parties, etc. All parents are welcome to get involved.

Daycare centers have the task of supporting families in the upbringing, education and care of their children. In order to be able to meet the needs of families and ensure individual support for the child, the exchange between professionals and parents is an important prerequisite.

In order to ensure good cooperation, we organize
- Parents' evenings
- Parents' meeting and parents' council
- Regular meetings with parents
- Door-to-door talks
- joint celebrations
- “Signal” group

Projects

Project work is an essential part of our educational work. Involving the children in the design of projects/activities is particularly important to us. Our activities are therefore based on the children's wishes.

Projects offer the opportunity to gain holistic learning experiences. To this end, it is very important that the respective topics are not only dealt with in the daycare center, but also outside. Places and institutions outside the daycare center are visited (trip to the Niederwalddenkmal, forest days, visit to the fire department, etc.).

Sufficient exercise in the fresh air is also very important to us. Through excursions and walks in the immediate vicinity (vineyards, banks of the Rhine, playgrounds) of the facility, we want to discover and experience the environment and nature with all of the children's senses. During all Hessian vacations, we can use the sports hall of the local elementary school to offer exercise activities.

We want to get children interested in a balanced diet as early as possible and strengthen their health skills in the long term. We therefore regularly offer the children small cooking projects (baking bread, cutting vegetables, exploring food, etc.) There is also a fruit and vegetable patch in our outdoor area, which the teachers plant and tend together with the children.

Experiencing the seasons is important for children's development, which is why we offer many projects and activities based around the theme of “seasons”.

These can be:

  • Craft activities (Easter nests, lanterns, carnival masks, chestnuts, etc.)
  • Celebrating festivals
  • Joint organization of the Advent season
  • Baking cookies
  • Visiting the Christmas market

Overview

The Weinbergschnecke daycare center is run by the non-profit association “Elterninitiative Kita Weinbergschnecke”. As an association, we thrive on all parents being actively involved and helping to shape our daycare center. For this reason, membership of our association is a prerequisite for a child's admission to the Weinbergschnecke daycare center.

When selecting children for the allocation of places, the following criteria are given priority by the daycare center in the order listed:

  • The child's place of residence is in Rüdesheim
  • Parental commitment to the facility is taken into account.
  • Preference is given to children whose parents are working or studying.
  • Siblings are already cared for in the daycare center.
  • Pedagogical and social aspects, e.g. group composition.
