The daycare center is a four-group facility in the Stendorf district of the municipality of Ritterhude. In addition to the two nursery groups, which care for up to 10 children aged one to three, there is also a forest group with up to 15 children. The elementary group in the main building of the facility cares for up to 25 children aged three to school age.
The facility has spacious outdoor grounds. The construction trailer belonging to the “Löwenzahn” forest group is located in the meadow area and is used as a group room.
The outdoor area is divided into several play and recreation areas, including a separate area for nursery children. The individual areas are equipped with a swing or bird's nest swing, a slide, a sandpit with play materials, and various vehicles for outdoor play. In addition, there are playhouses as places of retreat and natural materials for climbing and building.
The focus of the educational work is on nature and wilderness education. The aim is to promote and rebuild the relationship between children and nature. The children should feel safe and at home in nature, experience all seasons intensively, and develop a conscious awareness of silence and the sounds of nature.
Regular visits to nature and the forest give children access to the natural environment. Through these experiences, they gradually develop an appreciation, regard, and respect for plants, animals, and trees. At the same time, interacting with the environment and natural spaces is taught as a natural part of everyday life.
As part of our preschool work, we have institutional partnerships with the Platjenwerbe daycare center and the local elementary school. Preventive measures are regularly carried out by the dentist and the fire department.
Joint events are held in cooperation with the fire department and the Werschenrege parish.
In addition, there is institutional cooperation with the Nature Conservation Union in the context of the forest group.
