Introduction/specifics

Our day care center is sponsored by the DRK - Kreisverband Osterholz and is represented by a total of 15 DRK day care centers in the entire district of Osterholz.

It is located on the outskirts of the municipality of Ritterhude, in the district of Ihlpohl.

We currently look after children from the age of one until they start school in four elementary groups and one crèche group. Our day care center can be visited by appointment.

Rooms

We want to offer the children a variety of opportunities where they can develop in their thinking, movement and cooperation. That's why we have large, bright and friendly group rooms divided into themed areas. Our 5 group rooms have age-appropriate and stimulating play materials. Each group has a small adjoining room that is individually designed. The rooms are redesigned together with the children at regular intervals. We now also use the corridor as another play area. In our library, the children can look at picture books in a relaxed atmosphere. The room is also regularly used for small group work such as relaxation activities, picture book cinema, children's yoga... used. In our differentiation room, the children have the opportunity to withdraw alone or in small groups.

Outdoor Facilities

The grounds of the Ihlpohl daycare center can be entered through the entrance gate with child safety lock. Two signposts immediately catch the visitor's eye. One shows the way to the official main entrance, the other leads to the side of the fully fenced outdoor play area. With its 3666 square meters, this offers all children plenty of space and excellent opportunities to try out and move around outside in all weathers.

Daily Schedule

Crèche :

The children arrive at the crèche between 8.00 and 8.30 am. Together with their parents, the children undress, hang up their jackets and put on their slippers. each child has their own photo and name on their place in the checkroom. The children then say goodbye to their parents and are welcomed by the educational staff.

Upon arrival, all children meet at the breakfast table.

During free play, the children come into contact with other children, develop social relationships and friendships.

Nursery : 

At 7.30 a.m., the first children start the early service in the day nursery. The children are greeted by two educational specialists and their individual needs are addressed. At 8.00 a.m., the specialists come on duty and collect their group children from the early service.

The drop-off times are from 8.00 - 8.30 am. The groups organize their mornings differently until lunchtime.

Food

Breakfast

The children bring their breakfast to the daycare/crèche every day in a bread tin.

Drinks such as milk, water and tea are provided by the building. The respective groups regularly have breakfast together, for which a monthly amount is collected in the daycare center.

Lunch

Catering ABC Kochwerk provides us with a daily lunch. Further preparation and follow-up work is carried out by two permanent kitchen staff. Lunch includes a starter and/or dessert as well as a main course. Attention is paid to children's allergies and vegetarian food.

Basics

The educational mission of our daycare center is based on the principles of the Red Cross and the mission statement of the DRK daycare center. The daycare center sees itself as complementary to the family and provides the child with spaces for experience and learning.

The child is the focus of our educational work. We see every child as an independent person, with their own needs and an individual environment. Our children in the nursery are sensitive and empathetic and especially need parents and educational professionals who treat them with empathy, appreciation, love and recognition on a daily basis.

At the Ihlpohl daycare center, the pedagogical specialists in the elementary sector work with Armin Krenz's situation-oriented approach. The specialists attach great importance to picking up on the children's topics and concerns. From this, ideas for activities are collected and developed together with the children. We try to use as many democratic processes as possible to incorporate the children's current topics and needs.

In the crèche, a quote from Emmi Pikler takes pride of place:

“What is essential is that the child discovers as many things as possible for himself.” If we help them to solve all the tasks, we deprive them of the very thing that is most important for their development. A child who achieves something through independent experimentation acquires a completely different kind of knowledge than one who is given the solution ready-made.

Free play is of great importance to us, as children develop a sense of achievement through their own initiative.
