Current information

Introduction/specifics

Welcome to our Kindergarten “Max & Moritz”!

Nestled in the southern part of Radeberg, surrounded by trees and open spaces, our kindergarten offers the ideal place for your child to play, learn, and develop self-confidence. Our nature-based educational approach helps children discover their environment and understand connections.

In three buildings, we provide space for over 235 children, who are cared for in age-appropriate groups from their first year of life until they begin school. Our spacious outdoor area with playgrounds and a soccer field invites climbing and playing.

With a dedicated team of 24 professionals, we support your child individually and empathetically. The settling-in process follows the Berlin Model, where children gradually and at their own pace become accustomed to the kindergarten, initially accompanied by their parents and then increasingly independently within the group.

As part of the German Red Cross, our work is guided by the values of care, humanity, and family support, and we place great emphasis on an open interaction between all children and families.

We look forward to accompanying your child at “Max & Moritz” Kindergarten.

Basics

In our kindergarten, we actively accompany children in their development. We create a trusting and respectful environment where they can learn independently and continue to grow. Every child is seen as an independent personality, and we tailor our support to their individual needs.

As "guides and enablers," we provide supportive conditions, create emotional closeness, and offer age-appropriate incentives. Through observation and regular team exchange, we ensure that each child is optimally supported.

What is important to us:

  • Treating each child with respect

  • Tailoring learning opportunities to the children's experiences

  • Building trust and viewing mistakes as learning opportunities

  • Taking responsibility and encouraging the children

Projects

1. "Chickens in the Kindergarten"

In our facility, there is a chicken coop with a rooster and six dwarf Brahma hens. The animals are cared for by the educator and the children, with support from the parents on weekends and during holidays.

By daily feeding and cleaning the coop, the children learn responsibility and strengthen their self-confidence. The eggs collected can be used for baking or breakfast.

Interacting with the animals promotes body awareness and teaches the children to manage their strength.

For children with a migration background, the chicken coop provides a great opportunity to overcome language barriers. The children observe the life cycle of the chickens, from laying eggs to the growth of the chicks, and learn how to cope with changes in life. If a chicken becomes ill or passes away, we take the time to say a loving goodbye.

2. „Children’s Yoga“ with the Yoga Penguin

Every week, we offer imaginative yoga sessions for children aged 4 to 5 years in our daycare. Through movement and relaxation exercises, yoga games, and imaginative journeys, the children receive a playful introduction to the world of yoga.

Accompanied by our mascot, the Yoga Penguin, we start with a welcome circle and a warm-up game. Then, we introduce the exercises of the day, supported by colorful picture cards and a story. A teacher demonstrates the exercises, while the second person assists the children with their execution.

At the end, we relax with an imaginative journey or a calming massage story.

Why is yoga important for children?

Yoga strengthens the muscles, promotes balance, and improves flexibility. It helps children focus and develop a better sense of their bodies. In a world that is often hectic and noisy, they learn to relax, breathe deeply, and cope better with stress. These skills are valuable and support the children in their daily lives.
