Current information

Dechantengrund daycare center

The Dechantengrund daycare center is a regular facility with an integrated forest group. If necessary, places can be filled in an integrative manner. The forest group offers optimal conditions for a holistic education in which the children grow into relational, value-oriented and creative people. The forest group is a good opportunity to familiarize children intensively with nature at an early age and thereby develop an awareness of nature that comes from within.

The basis of the educational work in our house is the Saxony/Anhalt Child Support Act and the program “Elementary Education – Education from the Beginning” with its educational areas. In addition to the support, the promotion of each individual child is a determining factor for our pedagogical work, which is responsible for the individual and the community-capable personalities. In doing so, each child is to be promoted within the scope of the existing possibilities and according to his individual needs, strengths and weaknesses. Learning from one another and mutual respect is a basic experience for all children.

The focal points of our work are movement, life-world exploration as well as creativity, nature and environmental awareness. We stay outdoors in all weathers, go on regular trips to playgrounds in the city, into the forest or even all-day trips by bus and train.

Regular development calls to each child are offered. As a rule, these are carried out once a year, but also more often when required.

The primary educational goal is to learn the social skills of the individual and the group as a whole. In the forest, where the children are often dependent on each other, this is of fundamental importance. Through joint work and experiences, a sense of belonging together in the group and a willingness to help is developed in relation to others. The children learn through the commonality of their own needs and wishes, to be tolerant, to help others, to be patient, to resolve conflicts peacefully, to take responsibility, to be considerate of others.

The children's great need for movement and the pent-up aggression, which often arises from the narrowness and limitations of the group room, can be directly balanced out by the vastness of the space in the forest. The calming atmosphere in nature reduces aggression behavior. Social stress is reduced by the vastness and lack of boundaries. Conflicts can be resolved in a calm environment.

Social interaction is trained in the forest. The children are traveling throughout the morning as a group and communicate a lot with each other. Shared experiences strengthen the sense of group and thus increase the willingness to provide mutual assistance and return, encourage cooperation and give a feeling of security. Through their daily interaction with nature, children experience that they can be confident in something. That makes them brave and self-confident. This is an important basis for self-responsibility and community capacity.

There is a lot of space in the forest and meadows, but also some important rules. In this way, necessary rules to protect children and nature are learned. Nature helps promote child development and makes children strong and courageous for life, independent and self-confident.

The documentation of our pedagogical work is carried out on the basis of development and observation arches, which are regularly conducted and evaluated. These observations form the basis for our further advancement of the children and the annual development talks with the parents.
