EDUCATIONAL AREAS

All children in our centre are given appropriate educational opportunities. The thematically organised educational areas correspond to the educational abilities of children. The following pages describe the implementation of the educational areas at the ‘Borstel’ daycare centre. Due to the complexity of the educational areas, however, the educational opportunities offered by our centre can only be given as examples - there will always be further opportunities for the children in everyday life at the daycare centre. In practice, the individual educational areas overlap considerably, but this also results in a high educational value for the children.

Rooms

6 group rooms, each with additional bedrooms, 1 sports room

Outdoor Facilities

The outdoor area of the ‘Borstel’ daycare centre impresses with its spacious play and exercise area surrounded by greenery. It is surrounded by trees and bushes as well as large lawns. Our outdoor area offers the children a wide range of activities.
There are areas for exploring, playing, resting and other activities:

• slides,
• sandpits,
• swings,
• climbing frames,
• scooter track,
• paddling pool with sun awning,
• tables and benches,
• umbrellas to provide shade,
• sheds for different materials and toys.

There are separate play areas for the toddler groups and infant groups, and there are numerous parking spaces for bicycles in front of the centre.

Our focal points

Group work

Belonging to a group offers the children a sense of security. They experience their day at the daycare centre in a fixed group of children and two caregivers with whom they can build a continuous relationship. The family atmosphere and learning in a relaxed environment provide the children with optimal conditions for development.

Mixed age groups

We work in mixed-age groups because this corresponds best to the children's life situation and allows the children to learn more from each other. What other advantages do we see in mixed-age groups?

• little ones learn from older ones
• big ones learn to support
• children take on responsibility
• children learn to be considerate
• children learn more and better from other children than from adults.

Traditions

Through the long existence of our daycare centre, various traditions have been established which we regard as rituals to strengthen the bond with the daycare centre and to strive for an educational partnership. Examples of our traditions are

• coffee afternoon
• neptune festival
• lantern parade
• group excursions
• seasonal festivals.

Employee

We are a highly motivated, stable, multi-professional team of 13 educational staff and a manager. We are supported by an administrator and 2 employees in the technical area.

Teamwork with parents

Die Kita „Borstel“ ist schon allein durch ihre ehemalige Organisationsform – Elterninitiative – sehr an der Zusammenarbeit mit den Eltern orientiert. Im Einzelnen umfasst die Zusammenarbeit:

Entwicklungsgespräche:

Diese Gespräche dienen dem Austausch über die Entwicklung des Kindes zu Hause und in der Kita. Entwicklungsgespräche bieten wir 1x jährlich an.
Grundlage für die Entwicklungsgespräche sind die Grenzsteine und die Meilensteine.

Eingewöhnung:

Während der Eingewöhnungszeit arbeiten wir besonders intensiv mit Eltern und Kinder zusammen, um einen optimalen Start zu ermöglichen. Wir unterhalten uns über die Gewohnheiten, Besonderheiten und gesundheitlichen Themen mit den Eltern.

Tür- und Angelgespräche:

Die Alltagskommunikation nutzen wir zum täglichen Austausch und auch für kurze Beratungsgespräche. Die Begrüßungs- und Verabschiedungssituation ist uns sehr wichtig, um den Eltern zu zeigen, dass sie willkommen sind.
