Outdoor Facilities

The design of our outdoor area offers the children a variety of opportunities for discovery, as it invites them to learn with all their senses and to have a wide range of experiences.

We take the children outside every day and in almost all weathers to allow them to experience different weather conditions.

They learn to assess risks on the climbing frame and experience the limits of their abilities.

A slide leads down from a play mountain, which is planted with beautiful plants on both sides.

A large sandpit with a mud kitchen offers the opportunity to build and dig with the help of sand toys. A great water feature, which can be operated by the children themselves, invites them to play and splash around with water and sand, especially on hot days.

There is also a two-person swing in our playground, where children can train their motor skills and develop their senses.

Behind our kindergarten, 2 raised beds allow children to gain basic experience in working with plants and vegetables. For example, potatoes, pumpkins, tomatoes,... can be harvested together.

On the hard court in front of the kindergarten, the children can playfully practice gross motor skills, dexterity, balance, strength and endurance with a wide range of vehicles (scooters, bobby cars, tricycles, etc.).

A number path next to the kindergarten leads to our number garden. There, the children can linger in a sitting circle or play with a large scale or bouncy games on the number path. The large nut tree also offers us plenty of shade in the summer and provides us with delicious nuts to eat in the fall.

"Exercise in the fresh air is good for you" is also our fixed motto every Friday. Then we have the unbelievably great opportunity to go into the forest to research, explore and get to know everything about the forest without the influence of play materials and simply let off steam.

Daily Schedule

730 am - 9:00 am Drop-off time: All children must be in the kindergarten by 9:00 am at the latest.
7:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. Free play time in the home groups:   During this free play phase, the children (in their home group) can choose for themselves what they want to play, where and for how long. The children thus experience themselves as self-effective, as they can organize this phase of the day at their own pace and according to their individual needs.
9:15 a.m. Morning circle: In the morning circle, we greet each other with recurring rituals. We look at who is here, information is passed on and activities/free play activities for the day are discussed (sports, pre-school, creative activities etc.).
9:30 a.m. Breakfast time together in the home groups:   The children enjoy the snack they have brought with them in a cozy and quiet atmosphere. The snacks brought by the children are supplemented by a "fruit and vegetable plate".
10:00 am - 11:45 am Second free play time: Here the children have the opportunity to continue their free play in their own group room, change group rooms and/or take part in various activities.
11:45 am - 12:15 pm Closing circle: After tidying up, we end the kindergarten day (outdoors if the weather permits) with a joint closing circle with singing, circle games,... and where we say goodbye to each other.
12:15 - 12:45 First pick-up time: Children can be picked up for free play.
12:45 p.m. Second snack time: Together with the children who are picked up for the second pick-up time, we have a second snack brought from home.
13:30 - 14:00 Second pick-up time: before the kindergarten closes at 14:00.

Basics

The "Spatzennest" kindergarten is centrally located in the rural area of Hänner, a district of the municipality of Murg.

Our kindergarten is a catholic institution. It is managed by the clearing office for Catholic parishes in Schopfheim and the Bad Säckingen-Murg pastoral care unit.

The operating license is designed for 42 children, from 3 to 6 years, in 2 groups.

Both groups work under certain educational areas, from which the children can choose freely during free play time (partially open concept).

This is important to us:

Education for independence
Fair interaction with each other
Learning through play
creativity
Teaching Christian values
closeness to nature
healthy nutrition
contact with parents
environmental awareness
Cooperation with other institutions

News

We are guided by nature, customs and church festivals.

We take the situation-oriented approach into account - what does the child need at the moment, what are they interested in?

Here is a small insight into our activities and events:

Every day, we offer the children the opportunity to fulfill their natural urge to move. For example, during sports sessions, movement impulses when entering the kindergarten and the group, during dance, movement stories and, of course, when playing outside or on walks.
Every Friday we go to the forest. The children play and feel nature. They attach great importance to environmental protection and gain an insight into the fascinating world of animals, plants and the entire ecosystem. The forest is also the perfect place for role play, experiments, creative design, exercise and much more. Once a year, we spend an entire week in the forest.
Once a week, a targeted language development unit (Caritas) takes place at our facility for children with language deficits. This usually takes place outside of the group activities.
We like to celebrate a lot, e.g. Shrove Tuesday, Easter, summer festival, Thanksgiving, St. Martin's Day, St. Nicholas Day, Christmas and of course birthdays.
Once a year, the volunteer fire department visits us and shows us in a playful way what to do in an emergency. The tour of the fire engine is always interesting for all the children and sometimes the siren sounds.
We are a Catholic kindergarten. As already mentioned, we celebrate church festivals and highlight their background in a playful way so that values can be taught in a child-friendly way, e.g. through Bible stories, services in the church or in the forest. We are also happy to invite the parish priest and/or pastor.
Every Wednesday there is a preschool unit for our children starting school. The cooperation teacher visits the children and we take the bus to Niederhof elementary school in the second half of the kindergarten year. There, our preschoolers meet school starters from Oberhof and Niederhof. Together with teachers from the kindergartens and teachers from the elementary school, we hold the "preschool" in the elementary school. In this way, the children get to know each other, the teachers and the way to school.
