Welcome to "Haus für Kinder St. Johann am Kapellenfeld"

Our daycare center is located on the outskirts of Warngau. In our modern, two-story building, we care for children between the ages of three and the end of elementary school in kindergarten and after-school care. All of the rooms are designed with the needs of the children in mind. A large, light-flooded gymnasium, the large garden and the nearby Taubenberg mountain invite the children to exercise, play and romp around.

We work closely with the primary school, for example, we jointly organize the transition of children from kindergarten to primary school. The cooperation is facilitated by the close proximity - the primary school Warngau is only 50 meters away from our house.

The aim of our educational work is to promote the individual development of children into self-determined, responsible and community-oriented personalities. Children with their individual needs, desires and strengths are therefore our focus. They can actively shape the day-to-day running of the daycare center, thereby strengthening their self-esteem and self-confidence.

We want to build a trusting relationship with the children and their parents from the outset. Treating each other with respect and appreciation is very important to us.
 

Rooms

Children are always assigned to a group in which they spend fixed times, e.g. in the morning circle in the kindergarten or lunch in the after-school care centre. Outside of these times, they can choose freely between different functional rooms, which are organised according to themes. For example, there is a building and construction room, a role-play area, a creative room, a gym and, depending on the type of facility, a natural garden with various play options, e.g. a sandpit, a slide, a playhouse, climbing frames, swings and areas for riding tricycles, scooters or balance bikes. The after-school children also have access to the Warngau primary school gym in the afternoons. In the mornings, the kindergarten can use the school gym on certain days, e.g. for gymnastics for the pre-school children. The morning dates are determined annually in consultation with Warngau primary school.

Food

We value healthy nutrition

Fresh fruit and vegetables daily

We offer freshly cut fruit and vegetables daily to the children.

Water and unsweetened tea

We offer water and unsweetened tea. Children do not need to bring drinks with them.

Lunch

We receive our lunch daily from the Frischeküche Holzkirchen. The Frischeküche primarily uses products from the region, which are freshly prepared every day. The meals meet the recommendations of the German Nutrition Society (DGE). The Frischeküche also prepares so-called special meals, which means that it cooks gluten- and lactose-free, nut-free and pork-free meals as needed (e.g. for allergies).

Basics

As a church-sponsored institution, we are bound by the Christian view of humanity, which sees all people, without exception, as creatures and images of God. The dignity and inviolability of every human life is derived from this.
Children, educators and families should therefore perceive each other in our institution as children of God and treat each other in such a way that the unique value of each person is the basis of their actions. Respect for every living creature and respect in our daily interactions with colleagues, children and their families are essential to our educational work and our Christian values.

As human beings, we live in community with our fellow human beings from the first moment of our lives, both in our professional and private lives. As a Catholic day care center, we are aware of our responsibility to this community: We want to provide all the children in our care with qualified education and care. Our goal is to impart values and skills that will enable them to live responsibly and in a community, while also finding their own identity.

Our view of children
Every single child is a precious person, recognized and loved by God, who we want to trustingly encourage, support and accompany. We perceive each child individually. In doing so, we also meet the requirements of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, according to which all children - regardless of religion, origin, gender or state of health - require special protection and special care and also have a right to development. 

We see the child from the outset in the role of actively shaping his or her education - in line with his or her level of development. The child actively contributes his or her motivational, cognitive, physical and social skills to all educational processes and further develops these in the context of his or her experiences and social interactions. This skills-oriented view of the child, which also underlies the Bavarian Education and Development Plan, enables us to deal with diversity and individuality in a positive and appreciative way.

Teamwork with parents

As a Catholic day care centre, we see ourselves as a place for families. The shared concern for the well-being of the child takes centre stage. The family is regarded as the most influential place of socialisation and education for children. The family lays the foundation for lifelong learning, as well as for emotional, social and physical competence. The children's parents are therefore important co-operation partners for us.

To the extent that the educational staff have a high level of expertise in educational processes, parents are also the experts for their child. We treat them as equals and strive for a continuous dialogue. We therefore respect Article 4 BayKiBiG, according to which "The education, upbringing and care of children [...] is the primary responsibility of the parents".

We want to support parents in this task and respect their educational decisions, provided that this does not jeopardise the welfare of the child. Children from a wide variety of family structures are welcome . We honour and respect different family lifestyles. We meet the diverse concerns and needs of families with professionalism.

For us, regular dialogue at eye level is an essential element of a successful educational partnership. Door-to-door discussions and regular development meetings provide space for individual dialogue. Parents can also play an active role in our centre through parent action groups. Parents can also take part in the day-to-day running of our facility on a daily basis, giving them a concrete picture of our work. We regularly carry out anonymised parent surveys in order to tailor our services as precisely as possible.
