Introduction/specifics

Welcome to Kinderhaus Kompass

A place where children are free to find their own path

At Kinderhaus Kompass, we support children on their individual developmental journeys—with trust, openness, and guidance. Our facility on the Kalkberg in Meißen offers far more than a traditional daycare routine: here, children discover every day what interests, strengthens, and inspires them.

Instead of rigid group structures, children experience an open environment with a variety of themed and experiential spaces. Whether it’s movement, nature, music, creativity, or quiet retreat areas—each child decides for themselves where they feel comfortable and want to grow.

The “compass” in our name is more than just a symbol: it represents our belief in seeing children as active participants in shaping their own educational journey. We provide orientation and support—without dictating the path.

What sets us apart:

An open concept with structure
Children freely choose which space they want to be in—we provide guidance without directing them.

A special place to grow
Located on the Kalkberg, surrounded by vineyards, with wide views and a nature-oriented environment.

Connection instead of instruction
Our educational team supports each child individually, with empathy and on equal footing.

Encouraging diversity, unlocking potential
Every child brings their own strengths—we create spaces where these can come to life.

For parents who want more than childcare

Kinderhaus Kompass is a place of learning and living for children from their first year of life up to preschool age. Our goal is to foster independence, compassion, and a love of discovery—in an environment that provides security while allowing curiosity to flourish.

Basics

Our work is based on the Saxon educational plan.

Our educational mission is to ensure the self-education processes of each child through care and to enable them through education, as well as to exploit the genetic potential and talents brought along by the children. In doing so, the rooms and open spaces are designed and used daily so that each child can pursue their individual learning needs and be challenged in the process.

Children are actors and constructors of their own knowledge and thus create hypotheses about the world - supporting as little as possible and as much as necessary.

  • Children are actively involved in everyday events and take responsibility for them.
  • Learning is experience.
  • In play, children experience holistic educational processes.
  • School preparation is understood as learning that begins with the birth of the child.
  • The familiarisation concept is based on the "Berlin Model" and on the individual needs of the child.

Teamwork with parents
