Introduction/specifics

Our day care centre belongs to the German Red Cross "Senioren- und Sozialdienst Dresdner Umland gGmbH".

We look after 68 children in our facility, of which 25 are nursery children and 43 are kindergarten children.

Our day care centre is closed between Christmas and New Year and on so-called bridge days.

We do not brush teeth in our facility.

Rooms

In the house is a nursery room on the lower floor with adjoining bedroom as well as a seperate entrance and cloakroom for the nursery children. Furthermore, on the lower floor is a kindergarten room with a separate entrance and the cloakroom. The bathroom is used by both groups.

On the upper floor is a nursery room with adjoining bedroom and a bathroom for the nursery children. Furthermore, on the upper floor is a group room and a bathroom for kindergarten children as well as a function room. On the upper floor, both groups share the cloakroom area.

Outdoor Facilities

Part of our outdoor area is covered and can therefore be used in a variety of ways, e.g. in inclement weather or for holding parties and celebrations.

The inner courtyard, with its fall protection mats, offers various activities for our little ones (climbing, sliding, bobby cars, running bikes and digging in the sand).

Next to the inner courtyard there is a garden with a playground. The entire outdoor area has different surfaces (sand, stone slabs, gravel for different uses) as well as different sports and play equipment (e.g. for climbing, balancing, swinging).

We take into account the children's great urge to move.

A room for buggies is available.

Daily Schedule

6:00 a.m.                     our day care center opens

6:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.   the children of all groups are welcomed together in the early shift group and are allowed to occupy                                        themselves according to their own wishes

7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.   the two crèche groups and the two kindergarten groups have breakfast together

8:00 - 8:50 a.m.           free play / the children have the opportunity to play in other group rooms

8:55 - 9:05 a.m.           individual morning circle in each group / welcome song / getting in the mood for the day

9:05 - 9:35 a.m.           Activities in the different learning areas

9:35 - 9:45 a.m.           Fruit break and drink

9:45 - 10:55 a.m.         we get dressed and hang out outside

10:55 - 11:05 a.m.       we go back inside and prepare for lunch

11:10 - 11:30 a.m.       Lunch

11:30 - 12:00 p.m.       Undressing for a nap / stories or songs and finger games

12:00 - 2:00 p.m.       lunch break

2:00 - 2:15 p.m.           Getting dressed

Body care and toilet training always take place in between.

Our daily routine is only a "framework". It can be designed flexibly at any time.

A regular daily routine with recurring structures is an advantage for the children in the crèche. It offers them orientation and security, but should still leave room for individual needs.

Basics

Our daycare center is based on the pedagogical approach of Reggio pedagogy.

In Reggio pedagogy, challenges, suggestions and tasks always start with children's questions. They build on their strengths and their joyful devotion to the themes. Important in Reggio pedagogy is the child as the complete designer of his or her development, to whom adults must show unconditional respect and great confidence in his or her active powers.

The aim ist not to guide the children, but to create and strengthen structures for everyday living together. The children act as constructors and the teacher has the task of acting as a companion and dialogue partner. Interaction is an impotant part of Reggio pedagogy. Particular emphasis is placed on the individuality of the child. The child is seen as the builder of its development and nature. One of the main tasks is therefore to strike a balance between the individuality of the child and social networking.

We orient ourselves to the level of development of each individual and try to promote independence, social competence and knowledge acquisition in educational partnership with parents, especially with regard to the upcoming schooling.

Employee

Our team consists of a qualified pedagogue and state-recognised educators, some with additional qualification in curative pedagogy.

•           Swimming course for the children that will go to school the following year

Teamwork with school

Our daycare centre works closely with two primary schools in Meissen, with the Afra Primary School and with the Questenberg Primary School, with which we also have a cooperation agreement.

Our aim is to ensure that children can make the transition from kindergarten to school as smooth as possible, in a joint educational partnership with their parents and in cooperation between our educators and primary school teachers.

The aim is to get know children's educational backlogs, problems, but also strengths, and to discuss possible ways of supporting them.

Description and Stations

The "Meißner Spatzen" daycare center is the only daycare center in Meissen that is located directly in the historic city center. Traffic, city noise and tourism are very low. Our facility is nevertheless conveniently located in terms of transport. There is a good connection to the B 101 and the B 6. Buses and trains can also be reached in a very short time.
