Food

Healthy Eating and Shared Meals

At our kindergarten, we value healthy and balanced nutrition. We therefore ask all parents to pack a varied, healthy, and balanced snack for their children each day—such as a sandwich with cold cuts and cheese, along with some fruit and vegetables. Please refrain from including sweets such as milk-cream snacks, fruit pouches, cookies, chips, chocolate, or cake. To reduce waste, we also ask that you use as little packaging as possible when sending items to the kindergarten.
We eat both snacks and lunch together with the children; this allows us to take time for one another and strengthens our sense of community. As an institution that complements family life, we aim to provide a pleasant setting for conversation during shared meals and introduce the children to the kind of family-style interaction that goes with them. In this pleasant atmosphere, we foster an enjoyment of food and encourage appropriate table manners.
We encourage the children to help by unpacking their own snacks and tidying up their spots after the meal; in this way, we support them in becoming more independent.
We offer drinks with every meal, and the children also have free access to beverages during free-play time. Water is always available, alongside a rotating selection of teas and diluted fruit juices.

For lunch, you have the option of signing your child up for a hot meal or sending an additional packed snack. Menus can be found on Kitafino.
We source our hot lunches from the catering service Schöll in Pyrbaum.
Orders and payments are handled via the "Kitafino" online portal. Each portion costs €3.65 per child, and parents must place orders using the Kitafino app. To do this, parents need to create an account and top up their credit balance. You can find further information and download the app at https://www.kitafino.de/

In the standard groups, a "milk and muesli day" takes place once a week; during this time, the children have the opportunity to put together their own muesli or drink milk.

In addition, a healthy breakfast buffet is regularly held within the groups. This is prepared by the children with the assistance of parents who are visiting the group that day.
If you would also like to visit and help out, you can sign up on the notice board in your group's area.

Basics

As a Catholic kindergarten, our actions and attitudes are guided by the fundamental tenets of the Christian view of humanity.
Many different people come together in our facility; we therefore view ourselves as a place of encounter. Our interactions are characterized by empathy, optimism, appreciation for all living beings and things, respect, acceptance, solidarity, and the ability to handle conflict and criticism constructively.
Every individual has a right to have their individuality and dignity respected. We respect one another and treat each other with care and mindfulness.

We view ourselves as a "House for Children," thereby placing the children at the center of everything we do. Within this child-centered and situational approach, our educational work is guided by the individual development and needs of the children within the context of the group.
We operate using a "closed group" concept that includes partial opening of the groups to access various work and play areas during the morning free-play period. Through active participation, the children are involved in shaping and planning their daily kindergarten routine.

We aim to support the children on their journey toward becoming self-reliant, cooperative individuals who think democratically.

Targeted observation, a collaborative partnership with parents, and regular team meetings are essential elements that support us in the holistic development of each child.

We aim to:

support our children in developing their personalities

provide our children with warmth and affection

support our children in developing independence

strengthen our children's self-confidence

support our children in developing their social skills

guide our children toward the ability to act independently and effectively

impart knowledge, skills, and values to our children

prepare our children for school

model a Christian view of humanity for our children

Employee

Our team consists of highly qualified and motivated educational specialists and support staff:

1 Qualified educator and daycare manager (Head of Facility)

1 Social pedagogue (Group Leader)

8 Educators

4 Childcare assistants

Quality Assurance

Our kindergarten operates in accordance with the quality manual of the Caritas Eichstätt Department for Daycare Centers. This ensures the high quality of the work performed at our facility.
We regularly review our pedagogical approach, working methods, and goals—both as a team and during staff training sessions and planning days. Furthermore, the professional quality of our work is ensured and continuously developed through regular training, internal professional consultation, supervision, and the ongoing updating of our operational concept.

Teamwork with school

Children are generally highly motivated to embrace the new environment of school. Nevertheless, starting school is a transition often accompanied by uncertainty. When children can draw upon positive experiences and a wide range of skills gained during their time in our kindergarten, they are very likely to look forward to this new stage of life with pride, confidence, and composure.
We maintain close contact with the primary school teachers and exchange information about our respective approaches.

In addition...

we accompany the children to a trial lesson and the mathematics workshop

we participate in a school scavenger hunt

we conduct "safe route to school" training with the children

we offer many special activities exclusively for preschoolers, such as a preschool field trip and a preschool sleepover

the children are welcome to visit us and share their experiences at the end of their first day of school

Teamwork with parents

As a facility that complements the family, our kindergarten is a place not only for children but also for their parents. We view our collaboration as an educational partnership; we aim to support families along their journey and ensure that both children and parents feel at ease. For this reason, we place great value on open, honest, and trusting cooperation.

At St. Theresia Kindergarten, any interested parent can join the parents' council and advocate for the interests of our facility. Collaboration with the parents' council provides us with invaluable support and serves as a vital link between families and the kindergarten. When necessary, the council helps mediate between parents and staff and acts as a point of contact for addressing any issues. The parents' council is elected by the parents at the start of each kindergarten year, and we greatly appreciate the commitment of those who step forward to serve.

Overview

An "Open House" event takes place at all Allersberg childcare facilities early in the calendar year (January/February). On this day, you can tour the facilities and learn about their various educational approaches. You can also submit a completed registration form for your child, indicating your preferred facility.
Following the Open House, the facilities hold a meeting to coordinate registrations. This process ensures that, as far as possible, every child secures a place at one of the facilities and prevents duplicate registrations. However, this does not guarantee that your child will receive a place at our facility.
Various criteria are taken into account when allocating places, such as social factors (single parenthood, employment, vocational training, job-seeking status, caregiving responsibilities), the presence of siblings, age, group composition, multiple births, etc.
Once the number of available places for the new kindergarten year has been determined, you will receive notification by mail.

We admit children in September and—if places remain available—in January. Admissions are staggered whenever possible.
We believe it is important to allow children sufficient time to settle in so that the transition away from home goes smoothly. Children need time to adjust to the new situation and build a bond with their new caregivers. Parental cooperation is crucial in this process; therefore, please plan for plenty of time as your child begins this new stage of life.
Upon admission, proof of measles vaccination (vaccination record or a medical certificate) must be presented.

As a general rule, siblings attend different groups at our facility to support their individual development. Exceptions are made for twins.
