Introduction/specifics

Dear moms and dads, my name is Josephina Fröhlich. Together with my mom and colleague Anja Fröhlich, we have joined forces to create a family-style daycare center. It is located in the university town of Marburg in the Ockershausen district.

Rooms

The Marburg Minis have a 125 m² apartment specially designed for children to play in. We have two large playrooms with a toy shop, children's kitchen, Lego, dolls, cars, and much more.  One room has a castle, and the other has a palace. There is a large hallway that could pass as a room in its own right, connecting all the other rooms. At the back of our apartment are the bedroom and dining room, the kitchen, and the toilets.

Outdoor Facilities

Outside, we have a covered outdoor area where the children have access to sandboxes, a slide, vehicles, and a playhouse. Each child also has their own plant pot, which we tend and harvest with the children depending on the season.

Daily Schedule

Daily routine
7:00–8:30 Drop-off time
You bring your child to the daycare center, say goodbye, and they can then play freely until breakfast.
Any special circumstances are discussed briefly.
8:30–9:00 Breakfast
Everyone then has breakfast together, which is provided by us.
9:00–11:00 Free play
Once everyone has finished breakfast, the children play, read, or draw, and we usually go outside during this time.
11:00–11:15
When we come back from outside, we tidy up together. Then there is a small snack. Afterwards, everyone is changed or goes to the toilet. Of course, diapers are changed whenever necessary.
11:15 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Sleep/cooking
Your child is now put to bed. We sing a lullaby to help them fall asleep. During this time, we cook varied and fresh meals every day. The little ones either wake up on their own or are lovingly woken up by us around 12:45 p.m. Now it's time for another diaper change and getting dressed.
1:00–1:30 p.m. Lunch
After saying “bon appétit,” everyone eats lunch together. Depending on each child's level of development, we let the little ones eat mainly on their own. We help if necessary.
1:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. Care
The little ones brush their teeth themselves, then we go and wash our hands. Everyone is changed again if necessary. We help with brushing teeth at the end.
1:40 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Free play
Your child now plays indoors or, if the weather is nice, outdoors until you pick them up.
1:45 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Pick-up
During this time, you can pick up your Marburg Mini. Any special issues will be discussed briefly.

On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, our childcare hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
On Wednesday, childcare hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Due to our music day on Wednesday, pick-up time is always at 2:30 p.m.

Dear parents, please always arrive about 15 minutes before the end of childcare hours so that we can have a quick chat.
The schedule is for guidance only. Depending on events and special circumstances during childcare hours, variations, time shifts, and changes are possible.

Food

We all have breakfast together in the morning. We provide breakfast. Breakfast consists of bread with, for example, cheese, quark, jam, vegetarian sausage, tomatoes, or cucumber, depending on your child's preferences.
Before bedtime, there is a small snack, such as fruit, yogurt, etc.
While the little ones are sleeping, we prepare a fresh lunch. It is important to us that it is varied and cooked with seasonal ingredients. Except when we have fish, we always cook vegetarian meals.
During our childcare hours, we avoid sweets as much as possible and eat as sugar-free as possible. Exceptions are made on birthdays and other celebrations. On these occasions, we prepare waffles with the children.
Drinks include water or unsweetened tea. Children are allowed to drink at any time, but only at the table, as they usually drink from open cups.
We can accommodate special dietary requirements upon request.

Basics

Our lives have developed naturally, and our natural selves know exactly what is best for our development.
Therefore, it is best to give the builders of our future as much freedom as possible, to encourage them in their self-development, and to meet them where they are in their development or provide assistance. Give them the space and help they need for self-awareness and provide the necessary support and encouragement at each stage of development without depriving them of their self-awareness. This is a great challenge for us, one that I look forward to with joy and confidence. With our experience, we are quick to explain to others how something should work. But self-development and ingenuity do not require this guidance and all too often amaze us with how things can be used in other ways. It is important to me that your child feels comfortable with me, that I provide your child with support and an environment in which they feel confident. That they make new friends and enjoy coming to me.

My goal is to be a trustworthy and loving childminder for your child so that you, as parents, can go about your daily lives relaxed, calm, and carefree.
I look forward to meeting you and your child!

Qualification

I was born in Marburg in 2005. I completed my vocational baccalaureate diploma in Marburg and a one-year internship at the Marburger kleine Diamanten daycare center.
Why did I become a childminder?
For several years now, I have been working with children of various ages, whether with children between the ages of 3 and 6 in our former pony riding group with own horses and which my mother and I organized and ran for over 5 years, or with older children in my horse whispering lessons.

All these wonderful experiences with children of different age groups led me to become a childminder.

Additional Offerings

Mondays we all go shopping together.
Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, depending on the weather and how we feel, we decide whether to go for a walk, do some creative activities, or exercise that morning.
Wednesdays we sing and dance with the little ones. The children learn some finger games, rhymes, and action songs, and can try out different instruments and experience their first self-produced music.

Nature is important to us. Each child receives their own plant pot, which is planted, tended, and harvested together according to the season.

Quality Assurance

Every two years, we refresh our first aid course for toddlers and take part in hygiene training at the health department.
We take part in at least 20 high-quality training sessions per year on the subject of childcare at the Evangelische Familienbildungsstätte.
We are members of the Kindertagespflege MR-BID e.V.

Teamwork with parents

Working with you as parents is very important to me. Regular, direct communication, mutual trust, and always addressing issues honestly, whether praise or criticism, leads to good cooperation. I will inform you regularly about your child's development in an exclusive setting. But I am also happy to do so at any time if necessary. A parents' evening is held once or twice a year.
Your child's settling-in period is based on the Berlin model, which I would be happy to explain in a personal conversation.

Specifics

The great thing about our location is that we have so many options. From here, you can quickly get to nature, the forest, or the Lahn River, the playground, or the city. With the help of the multiple stroller, we go on discovery tours.

News

Every birthday is celebrated here during childcare hours. Of course, the Easter Bunny, St. Nicholas, and Santa Claus also visit us here. We consciously experience spring, summer, fall, and winter with materials that we collect together and then decorate together in our daycare center.

Every year, outside of childcare hours, we hold a summer party with our families on our large lawn, featuring our horses, which are experienced with small children.

In the weeks before your child starts kindergarten, we prepare them for this new phase in their life. We read and tell them stories about kindergarten so that they are full of anticipation for this new phase in their life.
When a child has their last day with us before starting kindergarten, we celebrate and say goodbye, and give them a small photo book full of memories.
