Introduction/specifics

My name is Debora Schmidt, I was born in Marburg in 1988. After graduating from high school I worked as an au pair in Cambridge/England for one year. I studied economics and worked in an office for a few years. In 2020, I completed the basic qualification as a daycare worker and am now working as a childminder since October 2020.

Rooms

We use the Mühlen-Minis log cabin exclusively for day care. We have a large playroom, a large kitchen, a children's bathroom (2 low-level sinks, a children's toilet) and a hallway. We still use the other playroom as a bedroom. When another colleague will join in, then the playroom will partly become a bedroom.

Outdoor Facilities

We have a fenced-in area right in front of our rooms. There's a large sandbox, a small slide, a seesaw, and a few vehicles.

There are over 30 horses right next to us, and the sports field is directly across the street. We also have access to the elementary school playground. We can enjoy lovely trips to the nearby Lahn River or along the bike path. We can also use the school's gymnasiums by arrangement.

Daily Schedule

The hours of care are between 8 a.m. and 15:30 p.m., it is possible earlier and later than that.
Breakfast is served at 9 a.m., lunch around 11 a.m., nap around 12 noon.
Snacks are possible at almost any time, when the childrem demand it. We often go for walks, and we have a triplet and quadruple stroller available for this purpose.

Food

For breakfast, we serve cheese or sausage sandwiches, fresh, seasonal fruit and/or dried fruit, and vegetables.

My colleague and I take turns preparing lunch. The meal plan is posted in the rooms.

We provide all food; you don't need to bring your own.

Basics

I try to teach the daycare children independence and good self-esteem. It is important to me
that the children are valued and that they feel safe to try things out without harming others (children).

Qualification

I have completed the basic qualification as a daycare worker in 2020 and am now a daycare worker since
October 2020.
Through my own mom-being and numerous babysitting as a teenager and my au pair year in
England I could already gather numerous and valuable experiences.

Quality Assurance

Member of the childminders' association, regular participation in training courses of the Evangelische
Family Education Center, regular refresher course in first aid for infants and toddlers every 2 years,
Cooperation with the Marburg Youth Welfare Office

Teamwork with parents

With me, the cooperation begins even before your child settles in: As soon as it is clear that your child will come to we meet regularly in order to get to know each other well beforehand. This makes the
settling in so much easier. When dropping off and picking up the children, it is always nice to be able to
to talk briefly and that the time for that is not too short.

Specifics

We celebrate their birthdays and farewells to kindergarten together with the daycare children. The respective parents then bring something to eat (breakfast) and a few party supplies. There are also small parties every now and then where you can get to know the other parents and the former daycare children are always welcome.

Description and Stations

The Mühlen-Minis are located on the grounds of the school Steinmühle in Marburg-Cappel. There are parking spaces there.

We are on the premises in a log cabin that is only used for day care and has been newly renovated for this purpose.
