Introduction/specifics

We are a mixed-age group from one year to school entry, run by the Marburger Eltern-Kind-Verein e.V. (Marburg Parent-Child Association).

The Marburger Eltern-Kind-Verein e.V. runs nine facilities in the city of Marburg and currently looks after around 180 children aged between six months and school entry. The association is a parents' initiative. We attach great importance to the protection of children, a trusting and familiar atmosphere and a cooperative partnership. In our facilities, children should be allowed to develop their talents and experience values such as tolerance, community and closeness to nature.

In our group, 16 fleas are cared for by three pedagogical specialists and other interns who change with respect and an eye for their individual needs. Due to the mixture of ages and the size of the group, the children experience a very familiar structure in which they can show and develop their personality. The toy-reduced environment encourages imagination and creativity. We offer the children a lot of free space and thus provide many opportunities for the development of social skills.

Rooms

The fleas have 4 rooms with different functions, kitchen/dining room, bathroom and terrace at their disposal. Our rooms are reminiscent of a spacious flat, which supports the family character of our facility. We are located in the Zeppelinstraße and share the house with the children's group "Albatros", which is located on the 1st floor. Our group is located at ground level on the lower floor, which gives us direct access to our large terrace and our beautiful natural garden.

Food

The parents cook for the children. This means that the food is prepared by the parents at home in rotation and we only have to heat it up in the children's group with little effort. We only use food from organic cultivation and/or regional production and cook without meat as far as possible.

Additional Offerings

In spring, our annual forest weeks take place at the Marburg Youth Foundation's Stadtwald site.

Teamwork with parents

The parents take responsibility for what happens in the group. On the one hand, through daily cooking, on the other hand, through garden days, cleaning days, support in projects, taking on group-related "jobs", etc.
