Forest Kindergarten Lenzkirch - Wurzelzwerge

Our forest kindergarten Wurzelzwerge offers children a particularly rich natural environment with many opportunities to play, move, explore and discover. A large area with trees is located directly next to our site and provides the children with natural spaces for movement and experience every day.

The outdoor area is varied and close to nature. Climbing trees, a tree house, digging areas, shady places and a wide range of natural materials invite the children to develop their own play ideas, try things out and actively shape their surroundings. The nearby horse farm makes the location even more special and often leads to interesting observations and conversations about animals, nature and responsibility.

With several approved forest areas nearby, we can regularly visit different natural places. The children experience the forest as a living learning environment: they climb, balance, collect, build, observe animals and plants and experience the seasons directly.

A good shelter complements our nature-based approach. It provides safety, comfort and a place to withdraw whenever the weather, the group situation or an individual child’s needs make this important. In this way, we combine intensive nature experiences with reliable structures and a safe framework.

It is important to us to see each child as an individual. We support the children in becoming more independent, building confidence in their own abilities and learning to take social responsibility. Through shared play, building, exploring and discovering, the children learn consideration, conflict resolution, cooperation and mutual support.

The forest kindergarten Wurzelzwerge is especially suited to families who would like their child to experience a nature-connected, active and lively everyday life. Here, children find space for adventure, creativity, community and a sense of security.

Daily Routine

Our daily routine is clearly structured and gives the children orientation. After arriving, the children take part in the morning circle, have breakfast together, enjoy free play, educational activities and nature experiences. Depending on the weather, the group situation and the children’s interests, we use the outdoor area, visit forest places or take up current topics that are important to the children.

7:45–8:30 a.m. Arrival time
8:45 a.m. Morning circle, followed by a shared snack time.

Afterwards, the children take part in a variety of activities, such as:

• Free play

• Forest time – we walk together to a nearby forest area

• Creative activities: painting, crafts, carving, felting and more

• Discovery walks and outings

• Preschool activities

• Experiential educational activities

• Following up on the children’s own ideas and interests

From 1:00 p.m. onwards: second shared snack time
1:00–1:45 p.m. Pick-up time

Rooms and Spaces

Our most important rooms are the forest, the tree area and our natural outdoor space. This is complemented by a good shelter, which offers the children safety, comfort and space to withdraw. This allows the children to experience nature intensively while also having access to a reliable protected place.

Outdoor Area

The Wurzelzwerge have a particularly varied outdoor area with a large tree area, climbing trees, a tree house, a digging area and shady spaces. The nearby horse farm and several approved forest areas in the surrounding area offer additional opportunities for observation, discovery and learning.

Additional Children’s Activities

As a parent-led association, we offer a variety of additional afternoon activities for children alongside the regular kindergarten day. These activities create further opportunities for social interaction, shared play, movement, creativity and nature experiences in a familiar environment.

The afternoon activities take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. They are designed for children who enjoy discovering, playing and experiencing new things together with other children.

These activities are part of our active association life and help strengthen the connection between children, families and our kindergarten.
