Introduction/specifics

The Malteser Kita Wiesenschatz will initially commence operations in the 2026/27 kindergarten year with one group of up to ten children in the premises of the Malteser Kita Schatzinsel, Hollandsweg 83, Hövelhof. Once the new building is completed and ready for occupancy, childcare services will continue at the Riege location. The new facility will accommodate up to 52 children in three groups.

The provider of the childcare center is Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V., District of Westphalia-Lippe, with its administrative office in Paderborn. Professional support and guidance are provided by the Diocesan Caritas Association of Paderborn (Diözesan-Caritasverband Paderborn e.V.).

The aim of the center is to create a welcoming and nurturing environment for children, families, and employees. Educational work is guided by the needs and well-being of the children while supporting families through reliable and responsive childcare services.

Regular drop-off and pick-up times are scheduled during the following time slots: 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., and from 2:30 p.m. onwards.

The center offers 45-hour and 35-hour (flexible) childcare arrangements. With the flexible 35-hour option, parents or guardians determine the distribution of the childcare hours for each kindergarten year according to their individual needs.

Communication between the center and families is facilitated through the “kitaplus” childcare app. The app includes a center calendar, a digital notice board for general information, and personal mailboxes for direct communication. In addition, parents can report absences via the app and order or cancel meals for the day until 8:00 a.m. Meal charges are calculated on a daily basis using a prepaid system.

Rooms

The new Malteser Kita Wiesenschatz will be a single-story, barrier-free building. Each group will have access to a group room, two adjoining rooms, and a washroom. The spacious multi-purpose room will be shared. Other functional areas include the kitchen, staff room, office, and utility room.

Clear spatial structures are intended to provide orientation for the children. The color scheme will be calm and close to nature. The furniture will be child-friendly, thus encouraging independence and the children's thirst for discovery. Play materials will be selected according to the interests of the children and the teaching staff, offered at child height, and regularly changed.

The groups will be responsible for designing the room decorations themselves. This will ensure that the children's artwork is recognized and appreciated.

Outdoor Facilities

The outdoor areas will feature natural areas for climbing, making mud, building, exploring, letting off steam, and hanging out. Children can tend their own raised beds with flowers, fruit, and vegetables and look forward to the delicious harvest each year.

Regular outings to the nearby forest and playground will also be part of the program.

Sufficient parking will be provided for strollers, balance bikes, bicycles, scooters, go-karts, etc., as well as cars.

Daily Schedule

07:00 - 08:30 Uhr     Ankommen
08:30 - 08:45 Uhr     Morgenkreis
08:45 - 09:15 Uhr     gemeinsames Frühstück
09:15 - 12:00 Uhr     Freispiel, Angebote & Projekte

Die Krippen-Gruppen essen in der Regel früher zu Mittag und haben so mehr Zeit für den Mittagsschlaf.

Food

Important foundations for lifelong, health-promoting eating habits are laid in early childhood. Together with parents, we aim to introduce children to a healthy and balanced diet. This way, children learn from the very beginning that delicious, nutritious meals are good for them, fun, and delicious.

Meals are eaten together. This strengthens a sense of community and promotes a communal eating culture.

The children bring breakfast from home. Lunch is regenerated on-site by our kitchen team using the cook-and-freeze method and supplemented with fresh ingredients. For snacks, we provide fresh, preferably regional and seasonal fruit and vegetables.

When planning meals, we take the children's preferences, special dietary requirements, and allergies into account.

Basics

The focus of our educational work is the child. Every child is valuable and unique to us, regardless of their origin, ethnicity, gender, religion or possible disability. We accompany, educate, raise and support children holistically in their individual development and learning processes and provide supportive help to develop their personality.

We promote a "culture of helping". We treat ourselves and each other with care. We encourage the children to relate to each other socially so that they learn not only to formulate their own needs, but also those of other children. The approach of modern Montessori pedagogy ("Help me to do it myself") provides us with orientation.

The basis of our actions are the Christian view of humanity and Catholic social teaching.
