Introduction/specifics

The Käferlein kindergarden is a small parent initiative daycare center in Hohen Neuendorf. The kindergarden is run by the non-profit association "Käferlein e.V.". The premises of the facility are located in the approx. 135sqm ground floor apartment of an apartment building and offer children a bright, friendly and stimulating environment. The apartment also includes a small garden with a sand play area and mud kitchen.

Our kindergarden has 18 places for children from the age of one until they start school.

At least one parent is a member of our association, which means that there are monthly association fees and a one-off admission fee. 

Rooms

In our kindergarden there are 5 rooms with different functions on approx. 135 sqm. The children can determine their own play location, play material, play partner and play duration as much as possible.

Daily Schedule

Our kindergarden is characterized by a loving and familiar atmosphere.

All children are cared for together by three pedagogical experts in a mixed-age group. The mixed-age group helps children to achieve a high degree of independence and initiative and offers the best conditions for growing up and learning in a family-like environment. As a social living and experience space, our kindergarden offers the children a variety of opportunities to playfully test themselves, gain experience, acquire knowledge and simply feel good.

Various offers in mixed-age groups or also age-homogeneous groups:

• daily morning circle
• walks in the nearby surroundings and to the forest
• excursions by bus and train
• Knirpsenland: for all 1-3 year olds a playful offer with music, instruments, different games or reading time
• Duckland: for all 2-4 year olds, an offer that builds up and consolidates the skills of sorting and organizing, orientation in space and time, as well as first experiences with the playing cube and counting
• Numberland: for all 4-6 year olds a journey into numberland 0-10, where children experience stories of numbers and learn about the numbers from 0 to 10 in a playful and creative way
• Preschool: a school-preparatory support in a small group for children one year before school

Food

In our kindergarden we cook fresh and varied meals every day. We offer a fruit/vegetable breakfast around 9:30 am and various delicacies in the afternoon.

Basics

We integrate elements of the situation-oriented approach into our pedagogical work.

We provide an organized framework for living and learning together, so that time, space and the living environment are consciously experienced and the foundations for the child's development are created through active engagement with its environment.

Additional Offerings

• ​​​English lessons: once a week an external English teacher comes to our kindergarden
• early music education: once a week an external music teacher comes to our kindergarden

• if possible: overnight stay in the kindergarden or a 2-night trip for all children over 3 years of age

What does parent initiative mean?

We see ourselves as a community in which everyone is called upon to make an active and responsible contribution. Parents have the right to actively shape the life of the kindergarten with their ideas, suggestions and wishes. This right, however, also includes the obligation to invest time and work into the kindergarden and thus in the children. According to the principle "What I am good at, I like to contribute".

The Kinderladen Käferlein e.V. is a parents' initiative, which means that we depend on the help of parents. This is the only way to create free space for the pedagogical work of our educators and thus "time for the children".
