Introduction/specifics

Our Don Bosco daycare center is located in the city center of Günzburg and can be reached as follows:

• on foot, by scooter or bicycle (children)
• School bus and Flexibus (stop in front of the after-school building)
• Car (parking in front of the house)

We look after a maximum of 54 children from school entry up to and including the 6th grade of all primary schools within the city of Günzburg, as well as secondary schools (high school, secondary school).

In addition to care during school hours, we also offer holiday care:School opening hours:

• Mon-Thurs 11:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.; Fri 11:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m
• Holiday opening hours: Mon-Thurs 7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.; Fri 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

We offer our children a warm lunch; parents also have the option of bringing a lunch from home. We offer the following meal times:

• 12.30 p.m. / 1.15 p.m.

The children work on their homework together with the after-school care team:

• start:  2:00 p.m.
• ends  3:30 p.m

We are supported by volunteer reading sponsors. Free play and offered workshops take place from 2 p.m.

Our daily routine:

• 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.: Arrival of the school children
• 12.30pm/1.15pm: Lunch
• 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.: Leisure activities
• 2.00 p.m.-3:30 p.m.:  homework time (Mon-Thurs)
• from 3:30 p.m.: Leisure activities/workshops
• 3:30 p.m.: Snack
• from 4 p.m.: pick-up time

On holiday:

• 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. hurrah, holiday program
• 9:00 a.m.: Holiday breakfast
• 12:00 p.m.: Lunch

Food

Parents have the option of booking lunch at the after-school care center or sending lunch from home.

Basics

Our children are looked after in a part- open group structure, so each child can choose rooms, play materials and play groups according to their interests and inclinations. This enables our children to have contacts beyond their age and school affiliation. This creates a broad circle of friends and interests for each child. We are guided by the mission statement of our after-school patron Giovanni Don Bosco, whose focus was on strengthening/developing one's own skills, accepting the differences of individual children and integrating them into society as the basis of his work. Our big goal is to accompany, strengthen and support children in their development towards a self-determined life. Education in our after-school care center is based on two pillars: We support our after-school care children in developing the learning material of the respective school, and we also support the social and emotional development of the individual within the group and society.

What is important to us is close cooperation with parents, schools and external network partners in order to be able to support our Kids well through their school career.

Employee

Our children are looked after by educational specialists and additional educational staff. We receive support from a kitchen worker, a hygiene worker and a caretaker. Reading mentors are available to help with homework.

Teamwork with school

For all primary school children, we visit the teacher once a school year to discuss each child's learning development.

Teamwork with parents

We form an educational partnership with our after-school families in order to accompany and support the children during their time at school. In discussions we discuss the next development steps together in order to integrate the after-school children into our after-school care center and to support them well during their time in the after-school care center. In addition to discussions, we celebrate celebrations together with our after-school families and go on family trips. Parents’ concerns are represented by our parents’ council.

Overview

We take children into our daycare center from the time they start school up to and including the 6th grade. Our children live in the city of Günzburg and the neighboring districts. In exceptional cases, children from other municipalities can also be accepted.
