The daycare center "Daisy" is located in the town center of the district Schköna in the city of Gräfenhainichen. It is a small, nature-connected, and family-oriented establishment in a rural setting. In close proximity is the former primary school, which has been retained as an annex for the after-school children. Surrounding Schköna are forests, meadows, and fields. These are regularly used for explorations and walks to meet the children's fundamental need for movement and being active. The children see themselves as part of the village and learn about the local environment through excursions, exploring local businesses, visiting the church, admiring the animals and agricultural vehicles of the farmers, or surprising seniors on their milestone birthdays and anniversaries. The educational professionals enable the children to gain experiences in all areas of education and orient themselves to a situational approach. Through project work, they enrich the children's experiential opportunities. Learning takes place all day long! The goal is for the children to gain independence and initiative. They are offered a variety of materials to explore according to their interests and inclinations. They have the choice regarding materials, workspace, duration, and collaboration with other children. A key component of the educational work is the participation of all children. In the daycare center, children are actively involved in shaping daily life.
