The 'Kinderspaß' after-school care is a socially pedagogically oriented facility for child and youth welfare, with its own independent management. It is integrated into the 'Johannes Gutenberg' primary school, with which there is a very close cooperation. The children are cared for in fixed groups by educational professionals across different age groups. In addition, the children have access to two homework rooms, a kitchen for the after-school program, and a small children's workshop. Additionally, the after-school care facility includes a staff room and a management office. The after-school care sees itself as a family-supporting, leisure-promoting facility that works in a situationally oriented manner. One of the most important goals is to provide the children with reliable, loving, and structured care, in an atmosphere where they feel safe, accepted, and secure, where they have a lot of fun and enjoy their free time. Of course, the after-school care offers the children the opportunity to complete their homework.

The team of the after-school care center considers it very important that the children spend a lot of time outdoors in the play area. Through the semi-open after-school care approach, they have the opportunity to shape the everyday life of the care center according to their interests and have sufficient leeway in the form of offerings and projects. In order to provide the after-school children with age-appropriate support, it is important that they participate in shaping everyday life at the care center; participation is highly valued. The children's council is a regular point of contact for this.
