Current information

Introduction

The PINGUINE daycare offering is intended for children of students and employees of the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) as well as for children of JLU students who live in the city of Giessen or the surrounding districts. The children's admission age is 10 to 20 months.

The daycare center only offers full-day places (45/50 hours per week) and its opening times are based on the university event times (Mon-Thurs 7:30 a.m. - 6:15 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.). Parents can arrange the daily pick-up and drop-off times flexibly in consultation with the educational staff. We focus on the well-being of the child and its need for continuity, emotional safety and security (see also educational aspects).

As part of the family center, the family service center advises all student parents at Giessen universities.

Basics

The image of the child - basic understanding of our work

The child's development is determined by the desire for independence, its own skills and the active acquisition of knowledge. Skills develop, the world is explored and discovered. It is our job to accompany these processes

• by encouraging children to recognize and express their own needs

• by affirming strengths

• by encouraging experimentation and trying out

• by conveying values and norms

• by showing boundaries.

We assume a child who develops on its own initiative, through independent experiences and independent actions, and who acquires knowledge about the world through communication with others, children and adults, and the environment.

It is important to us to respect a child's personality and to treat it very carefully.
