For more than two decades, the Gauting Forest Kindergarten has been a cherished part of our community. It began with the vision of a small but dedicated group of parents who wanted to create a special place for children to grow close to nature. After nearly ten years under various managements, the kindergarten returned in September 2024 to the care of its founding parent initiative.
Location
Our two cozy wagons and mobile yurt are set in the beautiful Kreuzlinger Forest, between Römerstraße and Germeringer Straße. This is where the children and our educational team spend most of their days, playing, learning, and exploring the natural surroundings.
For stormy or severe weather, we have two warm and safe indoor spaces available at Grubmühlerfeldstraße 32.
A Day in the Forest

Parents as Part of the Forest Community
The Forest Kindergarten is not just a place for children — it’s also a vibrant community for families. Parents play an active role in shaping and supporting kindergarten life.
Parent evenings are held in a warm, welcoming atmosphere (often around the campfire), and families help organize events for both the kindergarten and the Gautinger community. Twice a year, all families come together for our Werkeltag- work days to help maintain the forest site.
These gatherings are not only a chance to care for the space, but also an opportunity to enjoy nature, get to know other families, and share experiences — strengthening the bonds of our forest family.
