Food

Snack
Each child brings a snack from home that is as healthy, wholesome, and low in packaging as possible.
Exceptions:

  • Tuesday is pretzel day. The children go to the Murmelcafe together and are allowed to buy a pretzel with the money they bring (1 Euro: pretzel; 1.50 Euro: butter pretzel).
  • Wednesday is cereal day. On this day, the children bring a piece of fruit from home, which is cut up together with a pedagogical specialist and is available for the children to eat in addition to the muesli. The cereal and milk is provided by the kindergarten. Cow's milk as well as oat or almond milk is available.

Lunch
Lunch is cooked fresh every day by an in-house cook and is vegetarian. All food used for the meal is organic.
Special diets due to food intolerances or similar will be taken into consideration if the expense is reasonable and all children can still be offered a full lunch. The meal plan is posted in the kitchen every week starting Monday morning.

Afternoon snack
Discovering, exploring, creating and also playing makes you hungry. That's why we have another snack in the afternoon. This is provided by the kindergarten. For example, the children get fruit.

Basics

Laughing children who make their way through the world with self-confidence and basic trust, who are free in their actions and at the same time attentive to the feelings of others, who are close to nature, who feel safe and loved, perceived and valued. Children who are allowed to be children.

Our image of the child
Appreciation of individuality vs. development of social skills

We are convinced that the pedagogical support and encouragement of children takes place in a "both-as-well" or "on the one hand and on the other hand" manner.

On the one hand, we value the individuality of each child. We see the child as an independent personality and trust in his or her resources. The preservation and support of each child's individuality as well as the creation of free spaces to live it out are important to us.

On the other hand, children spend a large part of their time within a community of people. A considerate, respectful coexistence in a community is only possible if children learn when and to what extent the expression of their own individuality must be put on hold in order not to endanger or unnecessarily restrict the integrity of others.

Teamwork with parents

Parental cooperation

Parental cooperation in the Murmelkindergarten is mandatory according to the "Netz für Kinder" guidelines. In a two-week cycle, services (supervision, cooking, etc.) that all families must perform, as well as other irregular tasks (parent representation, finances, garden, etc.) must be completed. The parent hours worked are compensated according to the honorary service rate.
Through their participation, parents gain increased insight into the daily routine of the kindergarten and experience their children in various situations. They are in close contact with the kindergarten teachers. Parents also have the opportunity to contribute their skills and knowledge to projects.

Specifics

Basic pedagogical principle: The situation-oriented approach

The principles and guiding ideas of the pedagogical work in the Murmelkindergarten:
The creation of free space for the children to live out their own individuality within the framework of a social group and in consideration of the needs of all, the promotion of the specific talents of the sometimes very different children, the support of the sensual exploration of the world, the natural and playful acquisition of knowledge and the self-directed learning process are based on a fundamental pedagogical principle: the situation-oriented approach.

This means that the pedagogical staff observes the children in the respective complex situations, makes the respective situationally occurring behaviors, interests and needs of the children the starting point of their pedagogical actions and acts pedagogically according to the situation or decides which child needs assistance, emotional encouragement, rest or stimulation or offers.

Overview

We accept children from the age of two. We pay attention to a balanced group structure.
Siblings are given priority.
Pre-school children are given special consideration whenever possible for reasons of "transition to school".
A very important criterion for admission is the willingness of the parents to cooperate with the school (see point: pedagogical aspect - parental cooperation).

The catchment area includes the community of Murnau and its town center. Children from other municipalities can only be accepted if the home municipality pays the corresponding contribution for the guest child.
