Introduction/specifics

Child day care is equivalent to care in a day care center, especially for children under the age of three, and fulfills the legal mandate to promote the upbringing, education and care of children.

A qualified child day care worker looks after a small group of children in their own or rented apartment/house.

The children are usually 0 to 3 years old and the number of children cared for is a maximum of 5 or, in a large day care center with 2 or 3 day care workers, a maximum of 10 children present at the same time. Child day care thus has a family character and each individual child can be dealt with particularly intensively.

The care times in day care are agreed between the parents and the day care provider.

Rooms

The own/rented rooms for day care must be suitable for children and allow the children a safe and stimulating development. They have, among other things, sufficient space for play, suitable play and activity materials, accident-preventing and good hygienic conditions, a bed for each child. Smoking is of course prohibited in the rooms.

Outdoor Facilities

Some day care centers have their own outdoor areas (garden with playground equipment, etc.), use nearby playgrounds with the children or take the children to parks/the forest.

Food

Healthy, balanced, child-friendly food prepared by the day care worker or brought in by the parents, depending on the concept. Children's intolerances etc. can be taken into account in the menu.

Basics

Each child day care centre carries out its mission of education, upbringing and care according to its own pedagogical concept, in which the child day care worker presents the profile of the child day care centre and describes the principles and focal points of his/her education and upbringing work.
