Basics

We work according to the situation-oriented approach in our daycare center.

This approach according to Armin Krenz is characterized by an appreciative attitude towards all people.

The situational approach aims to support all children in understanding their world and shaping it in a self-determined, competent and responsible manner.

We also take into account the living situation of the children and their families and pay attention to the developmental level of each individual child. We also respond to the children’s individual wishes and needs.

These situations give rise to projects that we develop together with the children. This so-called “learning from real situations” is intended to prepare children for their future lives.

According to Armin Krenz, there are three levels on which children gain their experiences:

  • Emotional level: experiencing life events that move children
  • Cognitive level: understanding what has been experienced
  • Action level: Opportunity for reappraisal or change

What is particularly important to us is:

  • To show all children a high level of appreciation
  • Recognize the current situation and address it promptly
  • every day is important for children's development
  • the specialist is both a teacher and a learner.

In everyday life we reflect together on our pedagogical actions.

We work according to Maria Montessori's principle: “Help me do it myself.” In concrete terms, this means we give the child as much help as necessary and as little help as possible.

Employee

Social education specialists work full-time and part-time in our daycare center. At times we give interns insights into the professional field of educators.

The daycare center is also supported by cleaning staff. These work according to the hygiene plan that was developed specifically for the daycare center.

Qualification

Working with children is a constantly changing process that needs to be considered and discussed.

Therefore, regular team meetings take place (even after opening hours) where we discuss the needs and development of each individual child and clarify organizational processes.

In addition, a conference for the educational staff takes place on the first Wednesday of the month.

On such days we offer an “emergency service” for the children of working parents (who have no other care options) from 7:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Due to shift work and part-time work, these regular meetings are very important in order to be able to act in the best interests of the children.

Decisions are made by the team and are carried out and supported responsibly by all team members for the facility.

Additional Offerings

Depending on the interests of the children, we offer the following, for example:

  • daily (20 weeks) the language development program “Listen, listen, learn – hear, see, understand”
  • Forest and field days
  • Behavior in traffic
  • Research and experiment
  • Project topics such as knights, forest animals, house of the little explorers
  • kindergarten trips and overnight stay in kindergarten
  • Visit the fire department

Quality Assurance

The concept and the quality manual are constantly critically examined by the entire team and revised if necessary.

The specialists also have the opportunity to attend individual training courses on specific specialist topics. Here you can exchange ideas with other specialists beyond the facility and bring new specialist knowledge and ideas.

Personnel development meetings take place once a year to discuss individual goals.

Cooperations

We offer the following in cooperation with other institutions:

  • To make the transition to school easier, there is a regular exchange between our daycare center, the respective primary school and the parents.
  • Visiting the schools

  • Visit to the sponsoring dentist

Teamwork with school

An important task for us educational professionals is to prepare children well for the transition to primary school.

Our school preparation begins when the child is admitted to daycare; it does not just take place in the last year before starting school.

Through “playing” children learn a range of skills.

The children need these to be able to cope with the demands of school. Our job is to see each child individually and consciously perceive them in order to support their development holistically.

In the last year of kindergarten before starting school, all preschool children meet regularly in the so-called “school group”.

These meetings and diverse offers highlight the special nature of the “school children” and strengthen their sense of group, individual self-confidence is increased and positive expectations towards school are developed.

Our goal is to create the conditions for school readiness:

  • Social-emotional development (e.g. making friends, being helpful, sharing with each other, empathizing with others, following rules, feeling addressed)
  • Learning methodological competence and cognitive development (e.g. developing an idea of quantity, enjoying discovery, learning to deal with “mistakes”)
  • Linguistic and communicative development (e.g. clear and understandable language, being able to ask questions, listen and tell stories)
  • Physical and motor development (e.g. balancing, cutting, dressing and undressing, developing joy in movement)
  • Everyday and topic-oriented knowledge (e.g. knowledge about nature, elementary questions in life, getting to know safe and correct behavior in traffic)
  • Musical and artistic development (e.g. making music, dancing, painting, developing talents)

The preschool children are given a wide range of opportunities to prepare for the transition to primary school.

Teamwork with parents

Collaboration with parents and families is an important part of our educational work. It enables us to get to know and understand the children better.

Because no one knows the child as well as their own parents.

In our shared educational mission, we want to achieve the best for the child's development.

Through regular communication with families, we are able to get to know the child and their environment better and understand their behavior. This is the only way we can support the children individually and in the best possible way.

We see parents as active and co-creating educational partners and share responsibility with them for the development of their children.

We support families in the children's learning and development processes. Constructive cooperation is essential for this.

In order to make our educational work transparent for parents, we use the following options:

  • Door and key conversations
  • Development discussions (once a year or as required)
  • Letters from parents
  • Parent meetings
  • Notices on information walls
  • Admission interview
  • Photo documentation
  • Parents' evenings
  • Information evenings
  • Newspaper articles
  • Celebrations and excursions

Specifics

Our daycare center offers the possibility of integration places.

These enable and support the coexistence of different children, i.e. children with different needs are cared for together in a group.

These include children with special support needs, children with disabilities, children with developmental delays and behavioral problems, as well as chronically ill children.

The aim of integration work is to take the strengths and needs of the individual child into account.

We are guided by the guidelines that were developed in the “Quint Quality Development Integration Place” model project. Children with different abilities enrich each other and learn from and with each other.

The children learn to recognize their own strengths and accept weaknesses. Integration means accepting and accepting, but also being accepted and accepted.

This benefits not only the individual, but the entire group community. Only lead your child up one step at a time. Then give him time to look back and be happy.

Let it feel that you too are happy and it will happily take it to the next level.

Overview

Admission is based on date of birth, regardless of the date the registration was received.

Primarily all children who live in Schreufa, as well as children from the core town of Frankenberg and other districts of Frankenberg.

Children from the age of two are accepted.

After registration

Before starting kindergarten, we conduct an initial introductory discussion with the parents/families.

We show the parents the facility and inform them about the content and goals of our educational work.

During this first meeting there is also a brief exchange about the respective child (e.g. special characteristics, allergies).

We also discuss the individual phases of acclimatization, which we carry out based on the “Berlin acclimatization model”.

Since every child has their own needs, we approach each child individually.

A good adjustment can only be achieved with mutual support.

Together with their parents, the children get to know the rooms, the teachers and the other children.

Children are welcome to bring a cuddly toy or “comfortable blanket” from home as security.

When the child has gained trust in his or her teacher, the child's trusted caregiver withdraws step by step (individually depending on the child's needs).

In order not to overwhelm the child, the visiting times are built up slowly in the initial phase (e.g. starting with one hour).

In consultation with the parents, this time can be extended individually according to the needs of the child.

It is important to give the children as much time as they need so that they can have a positive start to everyday kindergarten life.

It is important for everyone involved to show the children patience, time and a lot of empathy.
