Introduction/specifics

A Warm Welcome to Our Two-Group Daycare Centre “St. Marien”

We support children from the age of three until they start school during an important stage of their development.

At our centre, every child is valued as an individual, with their own personality, interests and unique strengths. In a trusting, appreciative and child-friendly environment, we provide children with space to play, learn, be active, express their creativity and explore the world together with others.

A trusting partnership with families is particularly important to us. We aim to be reliable contacts for parents and to shape everyday life at the daycare centre together. We warmly invite you to find out more about our centre, our educational programme and our varied daily routine.

For any questions or further information about our daycare centre, please feel free to contact our centre manager, Mr Florian Schick, or one of our deputy centre managers, Ms Wölk or Ms Lind.

Rooms

The “St. Marien” daycare centre includes, among other facilities, two welcoming group rooms that provide children with space to play, learn and explore together. The centre also has a dedicated activity room, which is available to the children every day.

Here, children can follow their natural urge to move, develop their motor skills and gain valuable experiences that support both their physical and personal development.

Outdoor Facilities

The “St. Marien” daycare centre offers children a spacious and varied outdoor play area. A wide range of play equipment invites them to climb, swing, slide and explore together.

The outdoor space provides plenty of opportunities for physical activity, creativity and playing together in the fresh air. Here, children can develop their motor skills, bring their own ideas to life and enjoy new experiences in nature every day.

Daily Schedule

Daily Routine at our Daycare Centre

Our two-group “St. Marien” daycare centre is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday to Thursday and from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Fridays. To suit each family’s individual needs, parents can choose between a part-time place and a full-time place.

Daily life at our daycare centre is varied and designed around the children’s needs. Alongside reliable routines and familiar daily structures, there is plenty of time for free play, children’s own ideas and individual development.

The day begins with arrival in the group and a breakfast. Children then take part in a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities. They play, explore, do arts and crafts, sing, move and discover new things together. Regular physical activities and gymnastics sessions encourage a joy of movement and support the development of motor skills.

Whenever the weather is suitable, children also use our outdoor area every day. There, they can be active, play together and explore nature. Lunchtime provides an opportunity to slow down, talk with one another and experience a sense of community. In the afternoon, a healthy snack rounds off the day at the daycare centre.

In this way, our daily routine combines learning, physical activity, creativity, community and relaxation in a child-friendly and caring environment.

Food

At the “St. Marien” daycare centre, children have the opportunity to take part in a paid lunch service at midday. Sharing a meal together not only provides a balanced lunch, but also encourages social interaction and creates time for conversation in a pleasant atmosphere.

Basics

Our Childcare and Educational Programmes

At the “St. Marien” daycare centre, we support every child individually and in an age-appropriate way throughout their development. Our programmes are based on children’s developmental needs, interests and strengths, inviting them to explore, learn and enjoy new experiences together.

We offer specially designed activities for different age groups:

  • Mini AG for children aged 3 to 4
  • Minimax AG for children aged 4 to 5
  • Preschool AG for children aged 5 to 6

Through these activities, children can develop new skills appropriate to their age, build self-confidence and prepare for their next stage of development. In particular, our Preschool Club supports children in a playful and enjoyable way as they transition from daycare to school.

A variety of additional activities further enrich everyday life at our daycare centre:

  • Movement sessions, which encourage children to enjoy being active and support their motor development,
  • language support, helping children develop their speaking and listening skills and expand their vocabulary,
  • a religion AG, where values such as respect, community, helpfulness and considerate interaction are explored in an age-appropriate way.

All children are warmly welcome at our daycare centre – regardless of their religion, background, language or personal circumstances. Participation in religious activities is, of course, approached respectfully and in accordance with each family’s wishes.

A detailed educational concept with further information about our goals, programmes and approach is available at the daycare centre.

Additional Offerings

Parents’ Breakfast – Time for Conversation and Community

At regular intervals, our day care center warmly invites parents to a shared Parents’ Breakfast, held on Thursdays.

In a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, parents have the opportunity to talk to one another, get to know other families and exchange everyday experiences. The breakfast also provides space for personal conversations with our educational staff, as well as for questions, suggestions and shared ideas about life at our daycare centre.

The Parents’ Breakfast strengthens the sense of community between families and the daycare centre. As part of a trusting partnership in education and care, this opportunity for connection and exchange is especially important to us.

We look forward to creating a welcoming setting in which meeting, conversation and togetherness take centre stage.

Specifics

Movement...

...as a Key Focus at Our Daycare Centre

“B e i n g  a c t i v e  &  m o v i n g” is an important part of our educational approach. Children discover the world through all their senses and movement plays a particularly important role. That is why we provide a wide range of daily opportunities for children to be active, try things out and gain new experiences with joy and confidence.

Whether during free play, gymnastics sessions, outdoor activities or guided movement games, children learn to get to know their own bodies. They discover what they can already do, recognise their individual limits and gradually learn to expand them. These positive experiences strengthen their self-confidence and encourage enjoyment of their own development.

Moving together is also fun and brings children closer together. Through shared activities, they learn to be considerate of others, understand rules, take turns and cooperate. In this way, children naturally gain valuable social skills through play.

From Gross Motor Skills to Fine Motor Skills

Basic movements such as:

  • walking,
  • running,
  • jumping,
  • balancing,
  • climbing, and
  • throwing

help children develop their gross motor skills and provide an important foundation for many further developmental steps. They support children in using their bodies safely, confidently and with increasing coordination.

These skills also form the basis for developing fine motor skills. Activities such as:

  • cutting,
  • drawing and painting,
  • arts and crafts,
  • writing, and
  • handling small objects with care

are encouraged through play in everyday daycare life. Movement also supports language development, concentration and an attentive awareness of the surrounding environment.

Our aim is to inspire children to enjoy movement while supporting them in their overall development with care, individually and in an age-appropriate way.
