Current information

Introduction/specifics

The “Pusteblume” Montessori Children’s House in Forchheim has been in operation since 1996 and has been located at its current site on Balthasar-Schönfelder-Straße since 2010. Currently, approximately 40 children are cared for there in two inclusive groups: the Sun Group and the Sea Group.

The educational approach centers on the individual child, with their unique abilities, interests, and personal pace of development. In keeping with the Montessori motto “Help me to do it myself!”, the children are encouraged to act independently, gain their own experiences, and develop confidence in their own abilities. A carefully prepared environment and a wide variety of Montessori materials in the areas of language, mathematics, sensory experiences, cosmic education, and practical life enable self-directed and focused learning.

A special emphasis is placed on inclusion and social interaction. Children with diverse backgrounds learn together, developing consideration, tolerance, a willingness to help, and a sense of responsibility for themselves and the community. Creative, play, and movement areas, as well as the spacious garden with a water play area, complement the educational work and provide space for physical activity, experiences in nature, and shared discovery.

The “Pusteblume” Montessori Children’s House thus sees itself as a place where children are supported with respect and are given the opportunity to develop into independent, self-confident, and socially responsible individuals

Basics

At the “Pusteblume” Montessori Children’s House, the focus is on the child—with their personality, abilities, interests, and individual pace of development. The foundation of our educational work is the Montessori guiding principle, “Help me to do it myself.” The goal is to support children in acting with increasing independence, making their own decisions, and developing confidence in their own abilities.

The prepared environment plays a particularly important role in this process. It offers children guidance and structure while also providing a wide range of opportunities to become actively engaged. Montessori materials from various educational areas encourage independent discovery, experimentation, and learning. Children can engage with different activities according to their interests and developmental level, working at their own pace.

The educational staff guide the children attentively and respectfully. They observe the children’s development, provide targeted guidance, and offer support where help is needed. The goal is not to provide children with ready-made solutions, but to encourage them to find their own paths and gain as much experience as possible on their own.

Another key focus is learning and living together in an inclusive community. Children with different backgrounds and needs receive individualized support while being viewed as a natural part of the group. This fosters social skills such as consideration, helpfulness, tolerance, a sense of responsibility, and mutual respect.

In addition to independence, physical activity, language, creativity, sensory experiences, connecting with nature, and social relationships also play an important role. The educational approach takes a holistic view of the child and aims to support not only their cognitive development but also their emotional, social, and motor development.

The Kinderhaus thus sees itself as a place where children experience a sense of security and guidance while also being given the freedom to try new things, remain curious, and discover their own abilities. The goal is to nurture self-confident, self-reliant, and socially competent individuals who develop a joy in learning and in living together.
