Introduction/specifics

Our Sattlertor after-school center is a day-care facility that complements the family environment, serving school-age children in grades 1 through 6 and located in the heart of Forchheim’s beautiful Old Town.

We currently care for 100 school-age children across two separate buildings. Most of the children attending our center are students at the nearby Martin Elementary School, while others attend secondary schools in Forchheim.

Children in grades 1 through 3 are based in the main building on Karolingerstraße, while children in grades 4 through 6 have settled into the nearby facility on Stauffenbergstraße.

The center is thus split between two buildings. The children from the Stauffenbergstraße location also make use of the spacious outdoor area at the Karolingerstraße site.

We follow a unified concept across both locations and work closely together as an educational team. Separating the children by age group allows us to address their specific needs more effectively.

In addition to fostering a sense of community within each location, we place great importance on mutual visits and joint projects, celebrations, and events that bring everyone together.

Basics

In our daily after-school care program, we focus on specific pedagogical priorities and educational goals, which we foster through a variety of projects and activities.

It is very important to us to address the children's needs and interests and to support each individual child in their personal development and unique character.

We have identified the following key areas of focus:

  •     Emotional well-being and social development
  •     Participation and children's rights
  •     Physical education and movement
  •     Language development

We are guided by respect for human dignity, regardless of individual abilities or limitations.

Pestalozzi’s guiding principle was: "Head – Hand – Heart"

"Head" represents the intellect, "Hand" stands for skills and dexterity, and "Heart" signifies love. Pestalozzi emphasized that the head and hand should be subordinate to the heart.

We embrace this holistic approach and use it to guide our daily pedagogical practice.
