Current information

Introduction/specifics

A warm welcome to Kinderhaus Wunderland! We are a facility run by the Bavarian Red Cross in Forchheim and can accommodate 98 children aged between 12 months and school age – spread across two nursery groups and three pre-school groups. Here, every child and their unique personality takes centre stage: we support them sensitively at their own pace and create a place where they feel safe, secure and valued right from the start. Our name says it all – here, children are free to explore, marvel and laugh.

Rooms

The first glimpse into Wunderland makes you want to explore: light-filled rooms, an open gallery and plenty of space to play. The nursery area is its own protected retreat with cosy sleeping rooms and lovingly designed group rooms — including climbing features for hiding and trying things out. Upstairs, the bright kindergarten rooms offer various play areas for retreat, movement and shared activities, complemented by creative rooms and our own children's restaurant.

Outdoor Facilities

Our spacious garden invites romping, climbing and discovery. The nursery children have their own area with a sandpit, swing and a little gnome house to hide in — all directly accessible from the terrace. The kindergarten children explore a balance path, various climbing structures, slides and a track for ride-on vehicles around the building. This lets your child's natural urge to move unfold in the fresh air.

Daily Schedule

Our day at Wunderland follows a clear rhythm that gives your child security and orientation. After drop-off from 7 a.m., we start our day with circletime, breakfast and a variety of educational activities that invite exploring, playing and learning. Lunch is eaten together, then followed by a rest period. In the afternoon there´s more room for free play, small-group work and time outdoors. Fixed rituals such as the morning circle give every day a familiar structure.

Food

Healthy, balanced nutrition matters deeply to us. Children bring breakfast and afternoon snacks from home, supplemented by freshly cut fruit and vegetables that we prepare together with the children every day. Lunch is delivered by S-Bar from Nuremberg — fresh, regional and free of flavour enhancers. Meals are eaten in our cosy children's restaurant.

Basics

In our Kinderhaus, the child is at the centre with all their needs, abilities and their own individual pace of development. Our pedagogical work is guided by the Bavarian Education and Formation Plan (BEP) and by the principles of mindful, participatory pedagogy. We see ourselves as reliable attachment figures who give children security and accompany them as equal partners on their journey — with plenty of room for free play, their own decisions and holistic learning.

Employee

Our team consists of qualified pedagogical specialists and support staff who are there for your children every day with heart and dedication. Educators, childcare workers and assistants work together in fixed groups and reliably accompany the children through their day at the Kinderhaus. Our housekeeping staff and caretaker are also part of the team and enrich our everyday life.

Qualification

We place great value on ongoing training and development: each year, our team has several closure days set aside for team development, planning days and the further development of our concept. In addition, every staff member can pursue further training tailored to their own interests and strengths. We also train the next generation ourselves: aspiring childcare workers and educators receive dedicated, qualified practical guidance with us.

Teamwork with school

The transition to primary school is actively supported with us. A dedicated cooperation teacher regularly visits our facility and works directly with the future school children on-site. Joint school visits, teacher visits to the Kinderhaus, and special activities for the pre-school group help build excitement for school. At the end of the final kindergarten year, we say goodbye to our "school starters" with a small farewell celebration.

Teamwork with parents

We see parents as experts on their own child and place great value on open, regular exchange. This includes at least one development discussion per year, brief informal chats during daily drop-off and pick-up, and both group-internal and group-wide parent evenings. We stay in touch at all times via our communication app. Parents are warmly invited to get involved — whether at celebrations or small hands-on activities. In addition, parents elect a parent council at the start of each Kinderhaus year.
