Introduction/specifics

The St. Josef Children’s Centre is a five-group facility in Forchheim, in the Buckenhofen district. 

The centre comprises two nursery groups and three pre-school groups. It provides support and care for around 100 children aged between one year and school age.

Basics

St. Josef Children's Centre follows a partially open educational approach. We support children in growing into confident and independent individuals who are able to thrive in today's world while also showing consideration and respect for others.

From the very beginning, every child is a unique individual with their own talents, abilities and competencies. These develop further as children actively engage with their environment, using all their senses and responding to their own needs. To do so, they require not only a stimulating environment but, above all, reliable relationships, recognition, appreciation and a sense of belonging within a community of other children.

The needs and motivation of each child are of central importance for their independent development and lifelong learning. Respecting these, together with upholding children's rights, forms an essential part of our educational practice. Furthermore, we regard it as a key educational priority to provide children with ample opportunities and encouragement for play and to support their natural desire for movement.

Overview

A child’s admission to a childcare centre is subject to certain conditions and requires registration via the City of Forchheim’s childcare centre registration portal, followed by a face-to-face admission interview with the parents or guardians at the relevant centre:

1. Decision on admission

• The decision on whether to admit a child to the centre is made by the operator of the relevant nursery, taking into account the centre’s internal admission criteria. The operator may delegate this decision to the centre’s management.

2. Medical certificate

• When registering their child, parents are required to provide proof that the most recent mandatory early detection screening has been carried out. Furthermore, parents are required to provide written proof of consultation regarding the child’s complete, age-appropriate vaccination cover, which must be sufficient in accordance with the recommendations of the Standing Committee on Vaccination (STIKO).
• From the age of one, written proof of adequate vaccination protection against measles or immunity to measles must be provided (from 1 March 2020).

A place at the centre is only guaranteed once a written education and care contract has been agreed between the parents/guardians and the provider.
