Current information

Introduction/specifics

The Spatzennest has existed in the heart of Eschborn-Niederhöchstadt since 2007. Today, we care for six toddler groups in three neighboring houses - with a maximum of 12 children aged six months to three years. Each group has its own premises, each of which includes a playroom and group room, a nappy-changing area, a bathroom, a kitchen, a dining area and a separate sleeping room. Three groups each share an outdoor area with meadows, sand and stone areas that have been specially laid out for the children.

Food

In the Spatzennest, all children receive a breakfast, fruit snack, lunch
and afternoon snack. At breakfast for example we serve cornflakes, muesli
or bread with various toppings. At the same time, fruit and raw vegetables are always offered.
Lunch is delivered fresh by a caterer.
The meal is a community experience, because eating together at the daycare center
is fun because the group is large and friends are present. The
eating needs are individually different and are taken seriously by us.

Basics

We work according to the so-called situation-oriented approach.
The human image of the situational approach is based on the assumption that children are able to actively control their development. From the beginning they have
competencies to influence and shape their environment according to their age.
It is important for us to pick up children where they are in their development. This daily and individually.

Employee

The Spatzennest team consists of about 20 pedagogical staff. In addition, there are young people who do their voluntary social year in our house every year. We also attach great importance to the fact that we regularly receive interns from the surrounding socio-pedagogical schools. We are in close contact with them.

Cooperations

  • Hofreite: Once a week, there is a joint breakfast (based on fair trade products) and singing with the residents of the Hofreite.
  • Day care: Monthly visits and experiencing music together.
  • Niederhöchstadt Fire Department: visits with the larger sparrows.
  • City of Eschborn: Theater visits and more.
  • Heinrich-von-Kleist-Schule: As part of the project Jung-Sozial-Aktiv (Young-Social-Active), 8th grade students complete their elective classes with us and then work in the care.

Teamwork with parents

Parents are the experts and the most important caregivers in their children's lives. We perceive the parents as an equal partner in the implementation of the care, upbringing and educational tasks of their children and meet at eye level with trust and appreciation. The pedagogical staff enters into a dialogue, makes their work transparent and assumes responsibility for the education of the children in addition to the family. Mutual cooperation and exchange form the important basis for the optimal support of the child.
