The Löwenzahn Preschool sees itself as a place of education, upbringing, and care for children.
Our educational work is based on the Child Day Care Act and the State of Baden-Württemberg’s Educational Guidelines.
The child’s perspective is at the heart of our educational approach.
In this way, each child is treated as an individual, supported, and nurtured with sensitivity and care.

Children in the toddler group, starting at age 2.0, are helped to adjust to the new environment by a trusted caregiver—who provides loving support and works closely with the parents or guardians—following the Berlin settling-in model.
This process helps the children feel supported and secure in their new surroundings and build trust in the facility.
Close cooperation between the guardians and the educational staff is essential for a mutually supportive upbringing of the child.

When it comes to the upbringing, education, and care of young children, meeting their basic needs plays a fundamental role in helping them develop trust and emotional skills.
 At the age of 3.0 years, children move to one of the groups for 3- to 6-year-olds or, if desired, to the “Unter den Blättern” forest kindergarten, for example.
Close cooperation between parents or guardians and the educational staff is essential for a mutually supportive approach to the child’s upbringing.

The goal of our educational work across all age groups is to support each child’s development into a self-reliant and socially competent individual.
Diversity and differences within the group of children foster tolerance, solidarity, a sense of responsibility, independence, social skills, and a joy of learning.
In an atmosphere of security and trust, children are given a wide range of opportunities to explore themselves and their environment.
In our daily educational practice, children’s play and holistic development are our top priorities.

Cooperation with Eigeltingen Elementary School/the Bildungshaus
The kindergarten and Eigeltingen Elementary School are located in close proximity and work together.
The “Bildungshaus” concept aims to provide preschoolers with a smooth and supportive transition to school.

Children’s Research Foundation
The Löwenzahn Preschool is officially a place where children explore.
An integral part of our daily educational program is to spark children’s curiosity and interest in discovery and experimentation, and to introduce them to subjects such as mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology (STEM) through play.
Discovery-based and inquiry-based learning enables children to develop skills that foster their creative, inventive, and critical thinking.
These competencies help them find solutions to problems, take on responsibility, and deal with tensions and dilemmas.
In this way, STEM education for sustainable development contributes to important future competencies, as called for by the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development).

Healthy Eating for Children; BeKi
Participation in the state-wide “BeKi” initiative ensures healthy eating for children and child-friendly implementation in our daily educational activities.
Enjoyable and balanced eating habits, as well as practical nutrition education for children, are a priority at Löwenzahn Kindergarten.
Learning through joy and enjoyment is at the forefront of our approach.

EU School Program
As a participant in the EU School Program, the Löwenzahn Kindergarten is particularly committed to promoting healthy eating. For more information, you can read the flyer “Lecker & fit, wir machen mit!” (Tasty & Fit, We’re Joining In!) on the website mlr-bw.de/EU-Schulprogramm in nine different languages. In addition to information about the program, it also provides ideas for healthy eating.
 

Kolibri
Kolibri is a funding program of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
As part of the Pact for Quality Education and Care, the overarching concept “Reliably Advancing Skills (Kolibri)” was developed to guide funding initiatives in the early childhood sector.
The goal of the overall concept is the systematic improvement of quality in early childhood education to meet the support needs of children that go beyond the objectives of the Orientation Plan.
A key element at the Löwenzahn Preschool is targeted language support for children with intensive language support needs in a small group.
