Current information

Welcome to the Catholic Kindergarten St. Georg in Donauwörth-Auchsesheim. We are pleased about your registration and your interest in our facility.

Introduction/specifics

Our sponsor is the Catholic Church Foundation of St. Georg in Auchsesheim. We belong to the “St. Simpert” Center for Day Care Facilities in Augsburg, which has provided administrative support since 2010.

Our kindergarten consists of two groups. Each group cares for up to 25 children aged three to six.

Rooms

We have very bright and spacious group rooms where the children have plenty of opportunities to play and various play areas. Each group has its own kitchenette.

In addition, the children from both groups meet every day to play together in our hallway.

Outdoor Facilities

Our garden offers various equipment such as a slide, swing, seesaw, playhouse, climbing poles, and climbing castle. Sand toys, handcarts, ropes, tires, and more are also available.

When the weather is bad, we like to use the colorfully painted courtyard, where the children can satisfy their urge to move around with various vehicles.

Daily Schedule

Drop-off time: Parents bring their children to our facility between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m. We place great importance on a personal welcome (and farewell) so that the child feels welcome and has a friendly first contact in the morning. Younger children can be brought in until 8:30 a.m.

Settling-in period: We accept new children in stages so that not all children arrive on the same day. This gives us enough time to respond to their individual needs. Parents are welcome to stay with their child during the first few days and accompany them in the group room. Once the children feel comfortable and are coping well with being separated from their parents, we increase the time they spend with us until they are able to stay for the entire morning.

Morning circle: Once all the children have arrived, we start with our morning circle. Here, we greet each other again with a song or poem, discuss the activities and offerings for the day, and assign the play areas.

Free play time: During free play time, the children are free to choose what they want to play and with whom. There are many table games, building blocks, and puzzles available. The teacher provides suggestions and assistance.

At around 8:30 a.m., we hold our morning circle. Here, we greet each other again with a song or poem, discuss the day's activities and offerings, and assign the play areas. The children are also allowed to talk about what is important to them at that moment.

The play areas each offer space for approximately four to five children. Free play time is also used to carry out specific activities with small groups in the intensive room, to do gymnastics with the children, and for our preschool and pre-school program.

During free play time, the children can decide for themselves when they want to go to eat. A song sung together while tidying up signals the end of free play time. All children tidy up together.

The following play areas are available to the children during free play time:

Play tables:  The play tables are used for various games with rules as well as for laying and sticking materials. These can be taken from the shelves by the children. A variety of play materials are offered for each age group, which are freely available to all children.

Painting and creative table: Children are free to use the painting and creative table. The selection ranges from various colored pencils to scissors, glue, different types of painting and craft paper, and everyday items (cardboard, toilet rolls, chestnuts, etc.).

Snuggle corner: The snuggle corner (gallery) offers children a place to retreat. Various materials are available here for the children to use. We are currently converting the snuggle corner into a “sensory corner.”

Reading corner: Here, children have access to two comfortable armchairs and various books, which they can look at in peace.

Doll corner: The doll corner invites children to engage in role-play and dress-up. It is equipped with dolls, stuffed animals, dishes, and dress-up materials. Here, children can slip into different roles and reenact and process situations or events that are currently on their minds.

Building blocks and Lego corner:  Children can use building blocks and Lego bricks to try out creative ideas, build things, or recreate models. This allows them to give free rein to their imagination.

Hallway / Visiting the other group:  Children from both groups meet in the hallway, where they play together with various materials such as building blocks, a knight's castle, and vehicles. They can also satisfy their urge to move around here. They are also allowed to visit each other in their groups.

Children's kitchen:  On birthdays, the birthday child is allowed to cook or bake with their friends. The parents bring the ingredients and we take care of the preparation with the children. In addition, the children's kitchen is also used for themed cooking and baking with the children.

Dining table:  We have a flexible breakfast time from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., which means that during this time, each child is free to decide when and with whom they would like to eat. The kindergarten provides the drinks.

Targeted activities in the circle of chairs

After tidying up, we form a circle of chairs. Here, the respective topic is explored, repeated, and reinforced in a varied and child-friendly manner. We work in a situation-oriented way and also address the children's needs and current topics. Singing and movement games are also great fun for the children.

Afterwards, we go into the garden or courtyard, where the children can let off steam until their parents pick them up again.

Our pick-up time is from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. The facility closes at 1:00 p.m.

Basics

As a Catholic institution, we are guided by the biblical Christian view of humanity, which sees every child as unique and equal. Our kindergarten is open to everyone, regardless of nationality, religious community, or worldview.

We live our Christian faith and offer all children a good and secure foundation on which they can grow into adulthood.

We also see ourselves as a bridge between the parish community and the family.

In this way, we complement and support the child's upbringing in the family and promote their overall development. It is important to us to treat children with care, love, and respect.

In order to foster healthy social behavior, we want to teach children stable values and accept them for who they are. We respond to each individual child in order to meet their needs in a loving, reliable, and appropriate manner.

All members of our team bring their own strengths to their work. Regular training helps us to fulfill our educational and religious mission. The management of our facility promotes cooperation with parents, the parish, schools, support institutions, and other institutions, and proactively promotes the development of the kindergarten.

Teamwork with parents

Harmonious and trusting cooperation with all parents is very important to us. This includes daily “doorstep conversations” during drop-off and pick-up times, regular development meetings, up-to-date information via notices and email, as well as cooperation and assistance with a wide variety of activities and celebrations.

Trusting cooperation with the parents' council also plays an important role. The council is elected at the beginning of the kindergarten year and acts as a link between parents, the facility management, and the sponsor. It represents the interests of the children and parents. The parents' council also supports us in planning, organizing, and carrying out celebrations and activities.

News

Augsburger Puppenkiste

Our annual trip to the Augsburger Puppenkiste on October 16, 2025, was once again a resounding success. The bus ride with the Link bus company was the first small highlight for all our children. Upon arrival at the Augsburger Puppenkiste, the excitement was palpable. All the children were really looking forward to the performance of “Sleeping Beauty” in the theater. They sat eagerly in the front rows and followed the beautiful fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty.

Overview

We accept children from all districts of Donauwörth as well as from other communities. Children from Auchsesheim and Nordheim are given priority.

Basically, we can only admit as many children as there are available places. If there are fewer places than applications, we decide based on the following criteria:

◦ Age of the child

◦ Employment status of the parents

◦ Siblings already enrolled with us

◦ Pedagogical considerations

◦ Place of residence

Children who are not yet 3 years old by September of the respective kindergarten year are gladly placed on our waiting list. These children can only be admitted during the kindergarten year if a place becomes available.

There is no guarantee in which of the two groups your child will be placed. If more families register and their children are older, these families may have priority.

We only accept children with complete measles vaccination protection.

Only with a written confirmation do you have a claim to a kindergarten place. Verbal agreements are not valid.
