In addition to the group rooms with adjoining homework rooms, our AWO children's house has a multi-purpose room, bedrooms, playroom, action room, sofa corner with table football and sanitary facilities.

Outdoor Facilities

Our AWO playground is located in the immediate vicinity of our house and invites you to play, laugh and run around.

Also within walking distance is the promenade with a playground and other natural exploration opportunities, as well as the playground of the neighboring Mangold School.

Daily Schedule

We work according to a structured daily routine in the after-school care center, in which there is room for needs-oriented and participatory interaction. There are fixed times for lunch, homework, free play, afternoon snack, etc.

Basics

During free play time, there are regular targeted activities which the children can experience if they are interested. We focus on the educational areas of music, creativity, mathematics and literacy, among others.

It is important to us that the children have enough space for their interests during free play time and that boredom has a positive effect on creativity and resilience.

Specifics

At the AWO-Kinderhaus, we attach great importance to teaching the children about the festivals throughout the year. We make sure that every child is involved and emphasize the sense of community that these festivals bring. We address Halloween, St. Martin's Day, St. Nicholas Day, Christmas, Carnival and Easter in a playful and child-friendly way so that every child, regardless of nationality, feels that they belong. The children are also involved in the organization of the celebrations and can have a say in the schedule and the activities on offer.

A special celebration for each individual child is their own birthday. This is celebrated at the AWO Children's House in the respective group.

Holiday Care

The AWO-Kinderhaus is also open for a few weeks during the vacations. We offer vacation care for school children during this time. This means that the after-school care center is open from 07:00 in the morning. There is a daily breakfast together and various activities, excursions etc. are offered throughout the day. The children really enjoy meeting their friends and spending the day playing without having to do homework.

Homework Support

Homework time is very important at the after-school care center. It is important to us that the children are motivated. That's why there are also small time slots in which they can decide whether they want to start their homework or play a little more. The atmosphere during homework is calm and welcoming. There is always a teacher on hand to help with any questions. We check the homework for completeness, but not for correctness.
