Introduction/specifics

At the AWO-Kinderhaus, we work according to the AWO's fundamental values: solidarity, tolerance, freedom, equality and justice.

Participation also plays an important role in our daily educational work with the children.

Catering is provided by the in-house kitchen.

We use the "Parent App" as a digital means of communication with parents.

You can also find us on Instagram using the following QR code.

Rooms

In addition to the group rooms with adjoining rooms, our AWO-Kinderhaus also has a multi-purpose room, bedrooms and sanitary facilities.

Outdoor Facilities

In our house, the children have the opportunity to use our inner courtyard.

In the immediate vicinity is our AWO playground, which invites children to play, laugh and run around.

Also within walking distance is the promenade with a playground and other opportunities to explore nature.

Daily Schedule

We work according to a structured daily routine in the kindergarten, in which there is room for needs-oriented and participatory interaction. There are fixed times for morning circle, breakfast, free play, lunch, nap, afternoon snack, etc.

Food

For breakfast there is a changing selection of cold meats, cheese, fruit, vegetables, muesli, milk, yogurt and spreads.

Lunch and afternoon snacks are freshly prepared daily in our own kitchen using regional ingredients based on the Bremen checklist.
There are individual meals for intolerances, etc.

Water, tea and juice spritzer are offered to drink.

Basics

During free play time, there are regular targeted activities which the children can experience if they are interested. We focus on the educational areas of music, creativity, mathematics and literacy, among others.

It is important to us that the children have enough space for their interests during free play time and that boredom has a positive effect on creativity and resilience.

Additional Offerings

Since 2013, the so-called "Vorkurs Deutsch 240" has been offered in Bavaria for all children (German and German as a second language) who need support in acquiring the German language. Children from the age of 4 can attend the course. It is designed to be appealing and child-friendly. The language support program "Wuppi" accompanies us throughout the year, in which the German language is playfully integrated into everyday life. On the various planets, rhymes, sounds and word games are solved together.

Specifics

At the AWO-Kinderhaus, we attach great importance to teaching the children about the festivals throughout the year. We make sure that every child is involved and emphasize the sense of community that these festivals bring. We address Halloween, St. Martin's Day, St. Nicholas Day, Christmas, Carnival and Easter in a playful and child-friendly way so that every child, regardless of nationality, feels that they belong. The children are also involved in the organization of the celebrations and can have a say in the schedule and the activities on offer.

A special celebration for each individual child is their own birthday. This is celebrated at the AWO Children's House in the respective group.

Projects

Various projects take place in the kindergarten throughout the year. The children help decide which topics are covered in the respective projects. As a small insight into our work, we would like to briefly introduce a few projects:
"Which bird is that singing?", we introduced garden birds, birds of prey and water birds and briefly discussed their living environment in a profile.
"Road safety", in this short project the children learned about correct behavior in road traffic.
"Why do teeth get cavities?", we talked about which foods are healthy and which are harmful to teeth. We then had a visit from a dentist.

Parental Interviews

Once a year, we carry out a digital parent survey, in which suggestions and wishes as well as feedback on activities carried out can be communicated.

In addition, discussions on your child's development with the respective group leader are offered and held annually and as required.
