Introduction/specifics
Welcome to the AWO daycare centre in Dillenburg
The AWO daycare centre on Zwingel, located in the old town centre of Dillenburg, is a five-group facility consisting of three mixed-age groups, a nursery group, the "Zwingel-Zwerge" (Zwingel Dwarves) and a nature experience group, the "AWO-Wurzelkinder" (AWO Root Children).
We offer places for 105 children aged 1-6 in various educational and learning areas. This also includes childcare places for children with individual needs within the framework of inclusion.
Our daycare centre has a long history. The former "Kleinkinderschule" (nursery school) was opened back in 1910. The old part of our building still bears an inscription with the same name.
Our educational work is based on the guiding principles of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (Workers' Welfare Association). The fundamental values formulated there – solidarity, tolerance, freedom, equality and justice – form the basis of our professional activities.
We work across age groups and inclusively. The educational concept provides for core groups in rooms with different learning and educational areas. The support goals are based on the Hessian Education and Training Plan.
Our work focuses on democracy education, media education, intercultural education and educational partnerships with parents, as well as looking at each individual child and their resources. Our team consists of many different personalities with individual qualifications in the areas of language education, children under three years of age (U3), integration/inclusion, etc.
We are characterised by a high level of commitment to further training and development in all areas. This takes place through regular in-house training courses, which benefit the entire team.
In addition, our nursery offers training opportunities. We offer part-time PivA (practice-integrated paid training) as well as internships for vocational trainees and social assistants. Various school internships can also be completed.
Our daycare centre is part of the state programme "Sprach-Kita" (language daycare centre).
We are delighted that you are interested in our facility. We would be happy to provide you with information and advice in person or during one of our regular viewing appointments.
